The ancient city is the eastern gateway to Turkey's southern Mediterranean region, known as the Turquoise Coast for its magnificent blue waters. • Blue Cruise Turkey
BLUE CRUISE along the Aegean coast of Turkey The Blue Cruise is ordinarily advertised as renting a private yacht (with captain and sta# on board), cruising along the southwestern coast of Turkey, making stops to swim, hike and see historical ruins. This sounds exciting but it misses the atmosphere of the Blue Cruise that is almost spiritual. As you board your yacht, you also cut the mental ties with land. You embark on a di#erent existence, as if nothing else matters outside your yacht, or even exists for that matter. What makes the Blue Cruise unique is the lack of requirements and responsibilities - at last the freedom to do absolutely nothing and with it, a complete freedom of mind. You can gaze at the sea for hours on end, you can swim everyday, sleep all day or you can finish that book that you weren’t able to finish for ages because of the lack of time. However if you want “action” to spend your time, you will never be at a loss to find yourself activities to try either. When the yacht is anchored, you can discover nearby coves by canoes; you can cover greater distance than swimming and its good exercise for your biceps! Or you can hail down one of the speed boats that tour the coves and bargain for water skiing, jetskis or banana rides. And it goes without saying that you can hike and climb to your heart’s content the pine and olive covered hills that rise from the shore to discover historical ruins from Lycians, Anatolian Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans.

  • Bozburun Bozburun Peninsula Marmaris, Turkey
Bozburun Bozburun Peninsula Marmaris, Turkey LuxuryVillasTurkey.com Bozburun Bozburun is a sleepy and quiet little fishing and boat building village far out on the edge of the Turkish southwest mainland, as close to the Greek islands as you can be without leaving land. It is on the tip of the Bozburun Peninsula, classed as a National Park by the Turkish Authorities so protected from high rise hotel de- velopments. In the village there is a small and popular harbour known to sailors for a long time already. Along the Peninsula are beautiful villages including Orhaniye, Turgut, Bayir and Selimiye. This is the real unspoilt Turkey so popular with guests wanting to expe- rience authentic rural Turkey where life has remained largely unchanged for generations. Bozburun is world famous for its boat building where the wooden Turkish Gulets are lovingly constructed by hand using genera- tions old traditions. Gulets built in Bozburun are sought after throughout Europe so you will find many Bozburun Gulets cruising the waters of Italy and Croatia. The permanent population is only about 2400. The village faces across the sea to the Greek island of Simi, only 15 km away from the “aquarium”, which is the locals’ name of the reef separating the bay from the open sea. Bozburun is one of the key stops on the popular sailing route of the Blue Cruises (Private Gulet Cruises) as well as private yachts of all kinds. The vil- lage has a small and charming little harbour, several restaurants and cafés, shops of different kind, mini grocery stores, butchers, fish store, real estate broker, pharmacy, car rental and a tourist information office.

I had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with many of you personally during the 2020 season. I was warmed and touched by your support, your understanding, your patience, and your generosity. All of us here at PST are extremely grateful and heartened by your enthusiasm and eagerness to travel with us when it becomes possible. PST is a small, flexible, and dynamic company. Elin, my wife, and I have always reinvested in the business with long term goals and are very used to surviving all manner of curve balls, although COVID-19 is certainly the biggest we have yet faced.

I look forward to an opportunity to explore with you many archaeological sites connected to Paul’s journeys on the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. We begin the trip with visits to Ephesus (Acts 19) and Mi- letus (Acts 20:15–17), both important stops for the apostle. We then travel south to ancient Halicarnassus, home of the tomb of Mausolus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Bodrum is also a center of underwater archaeology, and we will visit a museum filled with finds from the excavations of ancient shipwrecks. In Bodrum we board the gulet and start to experience the pleasures of life onboard. A personal chef cooks our meals, and at the end of each day the gulet anchors in a quiet cove where there is leisure time for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing on deck.

  • Salamat Pagi from Indoensia
July 16, 2012. Merhaba from Fethiye, Turkey! At the time of our last update on June 3rd, we had just launched Lazy Bones in Bodrum, Turkey, after eight months on the hard. Last year, while waiting for Lazy Bones to arrive in Greece from Singapore, we had flown into Istanbul and spent a week seeing all the great sights this interesting city has to offer. We then rented a car and drove the coast of Turkey all the way to Fethiye, stopping at all the sights to see along the way, including our favorite ruin of all, Ephesus. Just before launching Lazy Bones this June, we flew to Cappadocia, home of the fairy chimneys. All these trips are covered in previous updates. Our goal this season was to cruise the Turquoise Coast of Turkey from Bodrum heading eastward. We began by motor sailing right after we launched Lazy Bones eight miles north and anchored in Akyarlar, a small bay on the Bodrum peninsula, to test out all our systems. Our water maker pump started leaking, so after a few e-mails and phone calls, we managed to find a Spectra repair dealer who had his technician pick up the pump the next day. While waiting for the pump to be repaired, we took the dolmus (mini-bus) to several harbors further north on the peninsula including Turgutreis, Gumusluk, and Yalikavak, all nice waterfront villages but becoming more touristy, with white Legoland-like houses and hotels springing up on the hillsides. After a few days, the pump was repaired and installed, so we went back to Bodrum and anchored in the bay of Kale Koyu, just east of the castle.
