Sulphur Springs Healthy Dining Guide
Al’s Dog House:
- Meal: Grilled Chicken - Restaurant: Al’s Dog House is located in a quaint, bright yellow shack on south Broadway. If you are looking for a quick bite, this is a great place to get a grilled chicken from the drive thru. They do not have indoor seating, but if you like the outdoors, they have tables and umbrellas set up nearby.
Arby’s:
- Meal: Ham & Swiss Melt or Chopped Turkey Club Salad Chicken - Restaurant: Our Arby’s is located within the Love’s truck stop off of I-30. It is open 24 hours to feed hungry travelers and locals alike.
Bodacious BBQ:
- Meal: 1/2lb Turkey with Baked Beans & Coleslaw - Restaurant: This BBQ joint is located on Broadway just north of I-30. The red walls and tin roof are inviting. Once you’re inside, you will be hit with the smells and tastes of some of the best BBQ in town.
Braum’s Restaurant:
- Meal: Poppyseed Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad, or Garden Salad - Restaurant: Located at Mockingbird and the I-30 feeder road, this dairy palace is easily accessible and good choice for a quick meal. Half of the restaurant is a store where you can buy fresh dairy products and locally grown produce.
Broadway Buffet:
- Meal: Salad Bar - Restaurant: Don’t judge this restaurant by its cover. Decorated in traditional Chinese fashion complete with lanterns, the friendly and hard- working staff will make sure your glass is never empty.
Burger King:
- Meal: Garden Salad without Chicken or 4 Chicken Tenders - Restaurant: This well-known favorite is centrally located in one of Sulphur Springs’ business districts. With plenty of parking and a fast drive-thru, this is a popular spot for any time of day.
Burgers & Fries MPD:
- Meal: Chef’s Salad - Restaurant: This hidden gem is located on College street right outside of beautiful downtown Sulphur Springs. It may not look like much at first glance, but that doesn’t matter; their food is phenomenal.
Chicken Express:
- Meal: Catfish with Green Beans & Corn Cobb - Restaurant: Located on Mockingbird off Broadway, Chicken Express is centrally located within the Broadway corridor and a hop-skip away from the hotels of I-30. Drive thru or dine in; either way you will be bock-bockin’ for more!
Chili’s Grill & Bar:
- Meal: Guiltless Grilled Platter with Broccoli & Rice - Restaurant: Located at the intersection of I-30 and Broadway, this neighborhood Chili’s is a great spot to meet up with friends. The interior is decorated with scenes and murals of the Sulphur Springs community making this a favorite for locals and travelers alike.
China House Restaurant:
- Meal: Salad Bar - Restaurant: Situated on west Shannon road (the I-30 feeder), China House is the first of many restaurants you will encounter on your way to Broadway from I-30. Once inside you will feel like you are in the Forbidden Palace with authentic Chinese décor.
Coffee off the Square:
- Meal: Strawberry Salad: mixed greens, craisins, strawberries, almonds, feta cheese, and strawberry vinaigrette dressing - Restaurant: Located on Church street north of the Square, this quaint coffee shop is great for meeting up with friends or to get out of the hot Texas sun. A mosaic fountain is the focal point, but you will most likely end up at the coffee bar.
The Creamery at the Dairy Museum:
- Meal: Club Sandwich: ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon, with mayo and mustard. - Restaurant: This local landmark is located in front of Sulphur Springs High School on Houston Street. There are two grandiose dairy cows in front of the Museum. Inside there are relics of Sulphur Springs’ history as the dairy capital of the US. The Creamery is in the back of the museum, past the exhibitions, and is ready to serve you some good food.
Dairy Queen:
- Meal: Grilled Chicken Salad, Wrap, or Sandwich - Restaurant: Located on Main street between Coleman Park and Downtown, Dairy Queen can relieve a hot summer day at the park or the Square. If you are a train fanatic you may get to see one up close from the dining area!
Domino’s Pizza:
- Meal: 8pc. Chicken Wings or the Garden, Grilled Chicken Caesar, and Greek Salads - Restaurant: Located on south Broadway behind Chili’s, Domino’s is primed for a speedy delivery or carry-out. Dining in isn’t an option, so hurry home and eat while it’s hot!
El Charro:
- Meal: Guacamole Tortas, Chicken Enchiladas, or Guacamole Salad - Restaurant: Located across the train tracks on College street east of downtown, this Mexican restaurant is the closest one to the Square. Easy parking and plenty of room inside makes this a great dining spot for families and groups alike.
Furrs Cafeteria:

Plenty of parking and a beautiful interior make for a pleasant and stress-free breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Jack in the Box:
- Meal: Grilled Chicken Salad or Strips, Breakfast Jack, or Hamburger - Restaurant: Located on the I-30 feeder immediately after the Broadway exit, this restaurant is the epitome of fast food.
Juan Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant:
- Meal: Southwest Chicken Salad - Restaurant: Known for their great food and their speedy service, this is an ideal restaurant for any occasion. The interior is decorated so nicely that diners might think they’re in Mexico. This one is a favorite for locals and visitors alike.
Little Caesars:
- Meal: 1 Slice of Pizza, 1 Crazy Breadstick with Sauce, & 8oz Pepsi - Restaurant: Located at the fork of Gilmer and Broadway, this little pizza shop has easy access for their $5 Hot-n-Ready. With Family Video located next door you are primed for a great night in.

McDonald’s:

- Meal: Salad Bar - Restaurant: Located along Mockingbird off of the I-30 feeder, this pizza buffet is a popular spot for pizza lovers. Featuring a contemporary design with a build-your-own salad bar and veggie pizza options, you can easily stay within your caloric range.
