Though it may be controversial, the intent is to Prose Works stimulate respectful discussion--not angry debate. And the aim is certainly not to blame or condemn individuals currently involved practices based on Gurdjieff's teachings. Links Home There has been much confusion for decades about the so-called "sufi origins" of Gurdjieff's teachings, beliefs that Gurdjieff himself was a sufi (of the "blame-seeking" [malâmâtî] kind, as some have speculated) and assumptions that the spiritual training he gave to his students was "dervish training" and that the movement exercises he taught were "dervish dance movements." This confusion has been increased by some of Gurdjieff's disciples themselves, such as Ouspensky, who apparently believed that the Mevlevi tradition was the source of Gurdjieff's teachings1 and J. G. Bennett ,who believed that the Khwajagan sufi masters of Central Asia, the forerunners of the strictly Islamic Naqshbandi sufi tradition, were closely linked with the mysterious source of Gurdjieff's teachings--the "Sarmân Brotherhood."2 Others have gone to authentic Muslim sufi teachers and added to the confusion by hoping to find the roots of Gurdjieff's teachings in the Islamic sufi tradition: as a result, such seekers have been disappointed by finding "merely religious" Islamic mystical teachings.

Morocco’s willingness to enter into an alliance with Israel guided the way for a mutually beneficial relationship that was cultivated for decades. King Hassan II was a key player in the development of relations between the Arab states and Israel. His actions illustrate a belief in peace throughout the Arab states and Israel and also improving conditions inside the Moroccan Kingdom. My research examines the motivation behind King Hassan II’s actions, his empathy with the Israeli people, and his dedication to finding peace not only between the Arab states and Israel, but throughout the Arab world. Critics question the King’s intentions in negotiating peace between Israel and the Arab states.

In Greifswald und Berlin aufgewachsen (das Photo zeigt ihn mit seinen Eltern und der Schwester Marle- ne), musste er nach dem Abitur auf Drängen seiner Eltern eine Banklehre beginnen. "Ich träumte nur noch von Nummern. Daran bin ich fast zugrunde gegangen," notierte Hans Helfritz 1990 in seiner Autobiographie Neugier trieb mich um die Welt. Er brach die Lehre nach kurzer Zeit wieder ab und durfte in Berlin ein Musikstudium beginnen, das er mit verschiedenen Jobs selbst finanzierte. Da die Familie nicht vermögend war, war Helfritz gezwungen es mit verschiede- nen Jobs selbst zu finanzieren. STUDIUM on 1926 bis 1929 studierte Hans Helfritz Kontrabass und Komposition an V der Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, unter anderem bei Paul Hindemith, und vergleichende Musikwissenschaft bei Prof. Erich von Hornbostel. Daneben entwickelte er bereits eine rege vielfältige Tätigkeit, bei der er - so wie in seinem späteren Leben - persönliche Interessen mit Arbeit zu verbinden verstand. Er war Stummfilmbegleiter im Kino und verdiente sich auch als Sta- tist in der Staatsoper seinen Lebensunterhalt. Die Arbeit als Korrepetitor im Tanzstudio der Vera Skoronel und Berte Trümpy führte zu ersten Kompositions- aufträgen, wie die 1930 entstandene Ballettmusik Der Kreuzzug der Maschinen (verschollen).
