Joe Reusser, President of the Board WEST BUTTE SCHOOLHOUSE REHABILITATION PROJECT Built in 1909, the West Butte Schoolhouse is one of the last remaining structures of the once vibrant community of West Butte and the only remaining one-room schoolhouse in Sutter County.

When Sutter County donated the schoolhouse to SBRLT in 2005, we knew the historic background and iconic setting of this schoolhouse needed to be preserved.

On April 19, 2016, the schoolhouse was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is now included in a list of our nation’s cultural resources worthy of A BIG preservation. It is now up to us as a community to restore this property so future generations can enjoy a piece of local THANK history.
