Guests who arrive early may leave their luggage at our office. On the first day, the service starts on the boat with dinner and overnight stay in Marmaris Port. Marmaris which was built upon one of the antique Karian cities called Phyckos, has been under the rule of many different civilizations. The most valuable work of art that you can see today is Marmaris Castle dating from 1577. There is also a mosque and an 8-room caravansary covered with arches from the Ottoman Period. The ruins of the Antique times lie on Asar Hill; a small, low hill located on the northern side of the city. Being one of the best-known touristic places of Turkey, Marmaris has also a large marina. DAY 2 - Ekincik Gulf - Dalyan - (B, L, D) After your breakfast, you will be informed about the cruise itinerary and the boat. The cruise will move towards Ekincik Gulf. You may join our optional Dalyan Tour from here. You will be taken from your yacht by a small boat called piyade. You will arrive at Caretta-Caretta (turtle) Beach and take a swimming break here. You will enjoy the natural beauty of the delta as you cruise along the river. You will see the ancient Rock Tombs and finally arrive at mud baths to relax and be rejuvenated. A fishing village called Dalyan will be our final destination after we return to our yacht by piyade boat. Dinner and overnight stay will be in the Gulf of Ekincik. DAY 3 - Adali Bay - Manastir - Tersane Island - (B, L, D) Because of the wavy seas of Disibilmez and Kurtoglu that we have to cross, we will cruise earlier than the other days and reach the world-famous Fethiye Gulf. We will anchor at Adali Bay for breakfast. For lunch and a swimming break, we will go to Manastir Bay. This place is known as Cleopatra Bay or Sunken Bath Bay due to the beautiful underwater ruins of an old bath. We will anchor at Tersane Island for dinner and overnight stay. This naturally protected harbour was used as the shipyard in Byzantine and Ottoman times. DAY 4 - Kizil Island - Fethiye - (B, L, D) After breakfast, we will cruise to Kizil Island for lunch and a swimming break. On the fourth day of our cruise, we will arrive in Fethiye Harbour around 16:00 p.m. The guests who joined for 'Mini Cruise' should leave the boat here. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in Fethiye Harbour. DAY 5 - Fethiye - Oludeniz (Dead Sea) - Gemiler Island - (B, L, D) The new guests for Mini Cruise must embark the boat before 10:30 a.m. from Fethiye Harbour. We will start our cruise to Oludeniz. Our yacht will be anchored in Oludeniz for lunch and a swimming break. The next stop will be Gemiler Island. It is recommended to have an early evening walk on Gemiler Island and pay a visit to the Church of St. Nicholas, located at the top of the island, which remains from Byzantine times. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in the Gemiler Strait. DAY 6 - Gocek Gulf (Yassica Island - Domuz Island - Aga Limani) - (B, L, D) While moving through uniquely beautiful islands, we finally anchor at Yassica Island. Afterwards, we will go to Domuz Island for a swim and anchor at Aga Limani Bay for dinner and an overnight stay. DAY 7 - Kumlubuku - Cennet Island - Marmaris - (B, L, D) Today, we will cruise to Kumlubuk Bay early in the morning. Breakfast will be served in Kumlubuk Bay. We will anchor at Cennet Island for our last swimming break and lunch. We will enter Marmaris Harbour by 16:00 p.m. Overnight stay will be in Marmaris. Guests wishing to see more of Marmaris are recommended to go to the city centre and experience the lively night life. • Composition and Abundance of Octocorals in the Sea of Marmara, Where the Mediterranean Meets the Black Sea
SCIENTIA MARINA 79(1) March 2015, 125-135, Barcelona (Spain) ISSN-L: 0214-8358 doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.3989/scimar.04120.09A Composition and abundance of octocorals in the Sea of Marmara, where the Mediterranean meets the Black Sea Eda N. Topçu 1,2, Bayram Öztürk 1,2 1 Istanbul University Fisheries Faculty, Ordu cad No 200 Laleli, 34470 Istanbul, Turkey. E-mail: [email protected] 2 Turkish Marine Research Foundation, No 10, Beykoz, 81650, Istanbul, Turkey. Summary: Species composition and abundance of octocoral assemblages were investigated in the Sea of Marmara, which forms the connection between the Mediterranean and the Black Seas, two semi-enclosed seas with peculiar oceanographic conditions. Fourteen octocoral species were collected in the saline layer of the Marmara Sea (20-40 m), with a mean coral abundance of 5.21±5.11 colonies m–2 (mean ± SD) calculated from a total of 1390 colonies counted in transects. In spite of severe anthropogenic disturbances, dense assemblages of corals/gorgonians were observed during this study. The coral- ligenous communities—one of the most valuable structures of the Mediterranean Sea—harbored either Eunicella cavolini or Paramuricea macrospina as the dominant gorgonian in the Marmara Sea. Furthermore, the gorgonian assemblages of the Marmara Sea differed from those of the Mediterranean in their high abundance of P. macrospina and Spinimuricea klavereni, two species rarely encountered in the Mediterranean Sea at the studied depth range. The factors behind the observed differ- ences are discussed in regard to the particular oceanographic conditions of the Marmara Sea. Finally, we revised the main threats to corals/gorgonians in the Marmara Sea and provided some insights on management recommendations for coral conservation in this area.

  • Opening Speech
II. National Symposium On The Aegean Islands, 2-3 July 2004, Gökçeada - Çanakkale OPENING SPEECH Ali KURUMAHMUT Prime Ministry of Navigation Counsellorship Marine Transportation General Manager The Aegean Sea lies between the Turkish and the Greek main lands, as well as between the Morea peninsular and the southwestern edges of the Anatolian coasts, with the extension of the islands of Çuha, Küçük Çuha, Girit, Kaşot, Kerpe and Rodos that constitute its outer natural boundaries. In terms of the geographical structure, the Aegean, a semi-closed sea, has geological and geo-morphological characteristics peculiar to itself: it has about 1800 islands, islets and rocks of various sorts, as well as a number of geographical formations, scattered al over the Sea. There is little wonder that all these characteristics make the Aegean Sea a special one. The Aegean dispute between Greece and Turkey has been complicated for a number of reasons: for instance, there are many islands in the Aegean that Turkey ceded to Greece through international treaties. And these islands lying in the natural extension of the Turkish mainland surround Anatolia from north to the south. But Athens makes claims of sovereignty over many islands, islets, and rocks though Ankara never ceded any of them to Greece officially. The most obvious and famous case would be the Kardak rocks crisis that erupted between Turkey and Greece at the beginning of 1996. These complications make the Aegean a sea that is of special importance among the seas of the world. It is possible to divide the Aegean Islands into five categories in terms of their geographical locations, geological and geo-morphological characteristics, the historical perspectives of the sovereign powers to which they belonged, the manner in which the sovereignty over them was determined through international treaties, as well as their importance for geo-political and strategic purposes.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Başbakanlık Afet ve Acil Durum Yönetim Başkanlığı koordinasyonunda hazırlanan Ulusal Deprem Stratejisi ve Eylem Planı 2012-2023 (UDSEP-2023) belgesinin B.1.1.2.maddesi kapsamında Muğla İlinin bölgesel (makro) ölçekte risk azaltma strateji planının ilk ayağı olarak Fethiye İlçesindeki doğal afet tehlike haritalarının hazırlanmasıdır. Fethiye ilçesinin 1. Dereceden deprem bölgesinde olması, 1957 yılında 7.1 büyüklüğünde can ve mal kayıplı depreme maruz kalmış olması, kentsel yerleşim alanının yapılaşmaya uygun olmayan tarım alanlarına kaymış olması, bu ilçenin afete karşı hazırlık çalışmalarındaki önemini ortaya koymaktadır (Ertunç ve diğ., 2006). Bunun yanı sıra son yıllarda özellikle kıyı bölgesindeki dolgu alanlarının da yapılaşmaya açılmış olmasının bölgenin afete maruz kalma riskinde önemli düzeyde artışlara neden olduğu düşünülmektedir.
