Seniors Newsletter 2 March 2020 CHERRYBROOK SENIOR ATHLETICS NEWSLETTER 2nd March 2020 CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS to the 43 Cherrybrook Athletes who competed in 82 events at the NSW Junior and Youth Championships winning 22 medals (9 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze). Congratulations to our new State Junior Champions James Gladman (4), Tara Webb, Emilia Duncan, Claudia Wilson, Robbie Cullen and Sam Dale. Congratulations to Isabella Fisher on setting a Cherrybrook Best in the Women’s U14 800m. CONGRATULATIONS to Sam Dale and Alysha Burnett on being selected to compete at the Sydney Track Classic. CONGRATULATIONS to Jacob McCorry and Nick Andrews on their performances at the Graeme Douglas International Meet in Auckland. In very windy conditions, Jacob’s 110m Hurdles time was a new Cherrybrook Best. CONGRATULATIONS to the 14 Cherrybrook Athletes who competed at the All-Comers at Sopac on 29th Feb. Special Congratulations to Matt Joyce on improving his 400m Masters Cherrybrook Best. CONGRATULATIONS to Jill Taylor and Robert Clark on winning their age groups in the NSW Throws Pentathlon Championships. Both Jill and Robert improved their Throws Pentathlon Cherrybrook Best. 2020 NSW Open Championships Good luck to all Cherrybrook Athletes competing at SOPAC in the 2020 NSW Open Championships this weekend. The final timetable and entry lists are now available on the Athletics NSW website. Athletics NSW has requested Clubs provide volunteers to help run this event. Cherrybrook is to provide 2 volunteers for the following tasks: Sunday 8th March 6pm – 8pm, Field events More detail will be provided closer to the event. Please contact Karin Webb ASAP if you are able to volunteer, either via her Mobile 0408622144 or Email [email protected] Daniel Berry Seniors Award 2019/20 Nominations Open Nominations have now opened for the Daniel Berry 2019/20 Seniors Award. Nominations Close Friday 27th March at 5pm. The criteria for this award are as follows: 1. Age: Must be at least in the Under 18’s age group with the minimum age being 16 2. Attitude and Sportmanship: A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace good sportsmanship 3. Attendance: The athlete must have competed a minimum of 8 times in a season for which can include representation for Cherrybrook Senior Athletics, NSW Athletics and/or Athletics Australia * The athlete must also have competed for the club for a minimum of 2 Athletics season(s) To nominate an athlete who you believe is worthy of this award for the 2019/20 season please complete the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JMKL8DB Nominations can be made by Cherrybrook registered Senior Athletes, Seniors Athletics Committee members or parents submitting nominations on behalf of senior athletes. FRIDAY NIGHT CLUB COMPETITION All senior athletes are welcome to compete on a Friday night at Greenway Oval No2, Shepherds Drive Cherrybrook. Club announcements commence at 5.45pm, followed by a warm up with competition commencing at 6.00pm. This Friday (5th February) will be program 3. Any athlete wanting to compete in a non-programmed event should contact Nicky Jenneke on 0448407716 before 10am on the Friday of competition. Senior Athletes should report to Nicky Jenneke (lady on announcements) after the warm up and before they commence competition. TRACK CLASSICS Nominations are now sought for the following event via the Athletics Australia Website Queensland Track Classic 20 March (nominations close 00:00 6/3/20) 2019-20 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY STANDARDS The Australian Championship entry standards for this season have been released and are available using the following link. https://s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/piano.revolutionise.com.au/cups/aa/files/hsyijocvqg79snwj.pdf CHERRYBROOK RECORDS If you think you have broken a Cherrybrook record during the season please provide details to Robert Clark at [email protected]. RESULTS Only results from Cherrybrook Club competition and State permit meets eg Allcomers, Treloar Shield events and State/National events will be reported by the club.     Sydney Track Classic Saturday 13th March 2021 Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre Technical Rules of Competition This competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules/regulations of World Athletics, Oceania Athletics Association and Athletics Australia. The SYDNEY TRACK CLASSIC is a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze Meet ( C ) VENUE The competition will be held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, Edwin Flack Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park. EVENT INFORMATION Entry Lists and Timetable *The Timetable has been updated. Please make sure you review the timetable and start lists. Any changes to the COMPETITION Timetable will be provided to athletes by email or will be announced during the event. ENTRY TO STADIUM Accredited entry will be via the Main Gate. Accreditation will be available for collection. Athletes Entry A list of athlete names will be available at this gate and all athletes will be required to provide their name and be checked against the entry list. Athletes will receive one (1) ATHLETE accreditation pass and one (1) COACH accreditation pass which will provide entry into the venue. Athlete CHECK IN (TIC) All athletes are required to CHECK in for their event. Athlete Check-in will be via an online portal. Athletes will be sent a link to their mobile on the day of competition and will be required to check-in for their event no later than 1 hour prior to their event start time. If you have trouble with the online app, please report to Competition Management located as outlined on the map below. Once you enter the venue, head to the grandstand via the stairs shown on the map below and proceed RIGHT on the walkway to the COMPETITION MANAGEMENT office (opposite the kiosk – glass office windows on left hand side Athletes are required to CHECK IN one (1) hour prior to the advertised start time for their event.

    CHERRYBROOK SENIOR ATHLETICS NEWSLETTER 28th January 2020 CONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS to the 5 athletes who competed at the NSW Combined Championships at Sopac over the long weekend securing 3 medals (1 Gold and 2 Bronze). Congratulations to Amie Bowrey on winning the u20 Heptathlon. Congratulations to Robbie Cullen on smashing the Cherrybrook U18 Decathlon record (by almost 1200 points) in his first ever decathlon. A special mention also to Tara Webb (6 PBs in the U18 Heptathlon) and Chandra Rajapaksha Mudiyanse (4 PBs in the 50-59 Pentathlon). Chandra, in his first pentathlon, was within 10 points of setting a new Cherrybrook Best. CONGRATULATIONS to the 12 athletes who competed at the ACT Championships in Canberra over the long weekend securing 12 medals (4 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze). Congratulations to Kim Neuenkirchen (Secured Shot, Secured Javelin), Sam Dale (U20 Long Jump) and Jonathan Reid (U18 Triple Jump) on winning Gold medals. Sam’s leap of 6.31m was a new U20 Cherrybrook Best and a World U20 Qualifier for the U20 Championships in Kenya in July. Treloar Shield Round 7 (re-arranged) Saturday 1st February SOPAC The final round of the Treloar Shield will be held this Saturday at Sopac from 1pm-6pm. This is the final round of the ANSW Club Track & Field Competition comprising the Junior, Open, and Masters Pennants and the overall Treloar Shield. It would be fabulous to see a large Cherrybrook turnout to ensure the club’s final positions are as high as possible. Noah Hain, in his very first Australian Championships, won the bronze medal in the Under 14 Boys Long Jump event. The jump that earned the medal for Noah was 5.80 m. This leap by Noah broke the previous Club Record which had been set by Noah’s brother, Sam. In his Triple Jump event Noah again produced a big effort on his last jump to leap up 3 places and take out the silver medal with his leap of 11.62m.
