Item 1: Opening Prayer Speaker (Mr. O'Brien): I would like to call on Mr. Alakannuark to say the prayer. >>Prayer Speaker: Minister Thompson. Point of Privilege Hon. Manitok Thompson: I have a point of privilege, Mr. Speaker, if you will allow me to continue. Mr. Speaker, pursuant to Rule 20(1), I rise on a point of privilege. In the National Post dated Thursday October 26, 2000, on page A-6, the following headline appears; "Gas prices in Nunavut to jump by 30 Cents". Mr. Speaker, this is totally inaccurate and I never indicated that the increase would be 30 cents. In addition, Mr. Speaker, the article indicates that gas will rise to 1 dollar and 10 cents a litre. Mr. Speaker, I have made it clear that there will be a maximum ceiling of 98.9 cents on gasoline, heating fuel, Jet fuel and diesel. No price will rise above the ceiling for these four products. Item 2: Ministers' Statements Minister's Statement 013 – 1(4): Task Force on Housing – Recommendations Update Hon. Manitok Thompson: Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to update the members regarding the report recommendations made by the Task Force on Housing that I tabled in this House last year. Friday October 27, 2000 Nunavut Hansard Page 208 Mr. Speaker, I promised that this report would not sit on a shelf collecting dust and it has not. When I
