E P AIMAHAI O F I Z IAL A - JURA Ana Esperanza Redondo Andoainen jaio zen 1963an. Gurasoek eta anaiak txiki-txikitandik eraman ohi zuten zinera eta liluratuta geratu zen Mary Poppinsekin, fantasiazko generoarekin hark izandako lehenengo harremana izanik. Berehala iritsi zen bere etxera Zenith telebista aparatua, dena zuri-beltzean zenean oraindik. Telebista harekin ibili zen espaziotik Enterprise ontzian, murgildu zen itsas hondora, eta bihurtu zen bakero, pirata eta detektibe, aktore guzti-guztien izenak buruz ikasten zituen bitartean. Familia Donostiara bizitzera joan zenean koloretako telebista sartu zen etxera, baita zine gehiago ere. Eskolako liburutegian altxor bat topatu zuen: Burulanen Zine Entziklopedia, aurrerago erosi ahal izan zuena. Zinemaren Historia ikasi zuen Zaragozako Unibertsitatean. Museoetan lan egin zuen eta liburuzain izateko ikasi zuen, baina bere hiriko Zinemaldiari buruzko doktoretza tesian buru-belarri aritzea erabaki zuen, betidanik erakarri izan zuen zerbait. Tesia ez zuen bukatu, 1991n Zinemaldiak kontratu zuelako datu-base historiko bat egiteko. Aurrerago, dokumentaziora pasatu zen eta urteak aurrera joan ahala, 2000n, lan hori pelikulen hautaketarekin txandakatzeko aukera eman zioten. Born in Andoain in 1963. Her parents and her brother began taking her to the cinema at a young age and she was fascinated with Mary Poppins, her first experience with fantasy films. A Zenith television soon arrived at her home when everything was still in black and white. With it, she piloted the Enterprise, travelled to the bottom of the sea, was a cowgirl, a pirate and a detective, all the while, she learned the names of the actors that where and will be. Her family’s move to San Sebastián meant the arrival of colour television and a lot more films. In the school library, she discovered a treasure: Burulán’s Film Encyclopaedia, which in time, she managed to buy. She studied Film History at the University of Zaragoza. Worked at museums and studied to be a librarian but decided to focus her doctoral thesis on her city’s Film Festival, something she had always loved. The thesis was left unfinished because the Festival contracted her in 1991 to compile an historical database. Later, she passed on to the actual documentation and over the years, in 2000, she was given the opportunity to combine this work with the film selection. And there she is, for the moment. Ana Obradors Hor doaz frantses bat, aleman bat eta italiar bat... barkatu, txistea ez baita hemen. Udaberriko goiz batean, duela 42 urte, neskato eder bat jaio zen, gorria eta iletsua. Umea ikustean deiadar egin zuen amak izututa: “Gaixoa, ez da inoiz ezkonduko!”. Eta aitak zera esaten zien lagunei: “Ume osasuntsu da, mardula, baina hain da itsusia...”. Gero denen aurrean ukatu zuten hori esan izana. Neskatoa (ez baitzen inoiz neskatila izan) parke, auzo, eskola eta institutuko neska-mutilak beldurrarazten hazi zen eta, zorionez, kirolari ekin zion zeukan jenio bizi hura han eta hemen askatzeko. Hamabi urte zituenean auzoko zinema maratoietara joaten hasi zen. 87an Sitgesko Zinemaldia ezagutu zuen eta 90ean Donostiakoa eta Beldurrezko Aste santua.

  • Re Missing!: Local Podcast Explores Cultural Blindspots Nothing Missing with Tony (Left) and Matt (Right) Behind the Mic
SENE on Screen: The beloved film festival returns for its 13th year For more than a decade, the annual SENE (rhymes with scene) Film Festival has celebrated film, art and music, and this year’s festival, which takes place October 13 – 16, will screen 130 films from around the world. SENE was created by producing director Don Farias and artistic director Phil Capobres, who work to create a welcoming atmosphere for festival entrants and attendees. And their efforts paid off — for four years in a row, SENE was named one of the Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee by MovieMaker Magazine, one of the most respected voices in the film industry, and was rated one of the best reviewed festivals by FilmFreeway. The festival made its COVID comeback over the summer. “We were thrilled that we were able to host fun events for visiting filmmakers in June,” said Farias. “It’s the first time in over a year that the world felt almost normal. I was impressed with the attendance, especially since I was not sure if people were actually ready to leave their homes. It was nice to see the filmmakers meeting new friends at our networking events. Everyone was ready to collaborate and begin creating films again. We expect October to be bigger with more filmmakers attending.” SENE has been a powerful force in building community within the local film world, and while the festival receives films from all around the world, it makes a point to highlight all things local. The festival will kick off on Wednesday, October 13, with a special screening of local filmmaker Christian De Rezendes’ SLATERSVILLE, a much-anticipated episodic documentary on the 200-year history of the first industrialized mill village in the U.S., located in the heart of the Blackstone Valley.

  • Cine-Excess 13 Delegate Abstracts
Cine-Excess 13 Delegate Abstracts Alice Haylett Bryan From Inside to The Hills Have Eyes: French Horror Directors at Home and Abroad In an interview for the website The Digital Fix, French director Pascal Laugier notes the lack of interest in financing horror films in France. He states that after the international success of his second film Martyrs (2008) he received only one proposition from a French producer, but between 40 and 50 propositions from America: “Making a genre film in France is a kind of emotional roller-coaster” explains Laugier, “sometimes you feel very happy to be underground and trying to do something new and sometimes you feel totally desperate because you feel like you are fighting against everyone else.” This is a situation that many French horror directors have echoed. For all the talk of the new wave of French horror cinema, it is still very hard to find funding for genre films in the country, with the majority of French directors cutting their teeth using independent production companies in France, before moving over to helm mainstream, bigger-budget horrors and thrillers in the USA. This paper will provide a critical overview of the renewal in French horror cinema since the turn of the millennium with regard to this situation, tracing the national and international productions and co-productions of the cycle’s directors as they navigate the divide between indie horror and the mainstream. Drawing on a number of case studies including the success of Alexandre Aja, the infamous Hellraiser remake that never came into fruition, and the recent example of Coralie Fargeat’s Revenge, it will explore the narrative, stylistic and aesthetic choices of these directors across their French and American productions.

  • 2D Animation Software You’Ll Ever Need
The 5 Types of Animation – A Beginner’s Guide What Is This Guide About? The purpose of this guide is to, well, guide you through the intricacies of becoming an animator. This guide is not about leaning how to animate, but only to breakdown the five different types (or genres) of animation available to you, and what you’ll need to start animating. Best software, best schools, and more. Styles covered: 1. Traditional animation 2. 2D Vector based animation 3. 3D computer animation 4. Motion graphics 5. Stop motion I hope that reading this will push you to take the first step in pursuing your dream of making animation. No more excuses. All you need to know is right here. Traditional Animator (2D, Cel, Hand Drawn) Traditional animation, sometimes referred to as cel animation, is one of the older forms of animation, in it the animator draws every frame to create the animation sequence. Just like they used to do in the old days of Disney. If you’ve ever had one of those flip-books when you were a kid, you’ll know what I mean. Sequential drawings screened quickly one after another create the illusion of movement. “There’s always room out there for the hand-drawn image. I personally like the imperfection of hand drawing as opposed to the slick look of computer animation.”Matt Groening About Traditional Animation In traditional animation, animators will draw images on a transparent piece of paper fitted on a peg using a colored pencil, one frame at the time. Animators will usually do test animations with very rough characters to see how many frames they would need to draw for the action to be properly perceived.
