The act of kindness brings people together and creates a sort of positive vibes in the surrounding. Detailed Report about Event WHEN AND HOW: World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of nations' kindness NGOs. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. In 2009, Singapore observed the day for the first time. Italy and India also observed the day. Considered to be a virtue, and valued in most societies and religions as an important quality, kindness is the act of being considerate, compassionate and empathetic towards other people and living beings. History doesn’t matter!! What really matters is why we celebrate this day. It’s so ironic that we humans have become so self-centred that we have decided to establish a particular day to make us recognise or remember that there is something called “Kindness” or “Humanity”. WHY: Kindness is a simple concept, yet so very impact. It can make the world a better place by ending suffering at the hands of war, hunger, human rights violations, and injustice. It has the power to drastically improve our own well-being as well as that of our families, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. The very act of expressing graciousness to one another can make us more empathetic of other people’s hardships. Within the workforce, kindness towards one another can inspire employees to be more productive. And within our communities, kindness contributes to safer and lovable schools and neighbour hoods. Every act of kindness creates a ripple effect that spreads from person to person with no end in sight. Kindness is contagious like a disease in which the outcome is divinely beautiful. CONCLUSION: The world can sometimes feel like a lonely place, with the grind of work and home. Take a moment on Nov. 13 – World Kindness Day to look up from your phone or computer to do something positive for someone else. Smile at that stranger on the bus, compliment your co- worker, pay for the next person’s coffee…the day is yours to make delightful! Co-ordinator H.K.Madhusudhan rao .

In our surveys, students have identified the cafeteria as the place where divisions are most clearly drawn. So on the last Tuesday in October each school year, we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications. Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice. WORLD KINDNESS DAY The World Kindness Movement (WKM) WKM is a legally registered not-for-profit organization with no political, commercial or religious affiliations. The formation of the organisation crystallised at a conference in Tokyo on 20th September 1997 when Japan brought together like-minded kindness organisations from around the world for the first time. WKM is now recognised as the peak global body for Kindness and whilst not a governing body it is a platform for collaboration and sharing. The mission of the WKM is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness by connecting nations to create a kinder world. Members of the movement include over 27 nations with representatives from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea,Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, the USA and Zimbabwe. Following the elections at the London 7th General Assembly in 2012 the kindness torch was passed from Singapore to Australia for the first time, Australia was appointed as the organisation’s Secretariat. The 8th General Assembly in 2014 saw China, France, Switzerland and Thailand appointed to the International Council for the fist time.
