Canadian Olympic Judo History Canada’s first Olympic judo medal was a silver medal won by Doug Rogers at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics (shown left).

Twenty years later in 1984, this was followed by a bronze medal won by heavyweight Mark Berger in Los Angeles (top right).

Judo Canada’s Nicholas Gill became the first Canadian judo- ka to win two Olympic medals. A bronze in 1992 in Barcelo- na and a silver at the 2000 Sydney Olympics (bottom right).

Kelita Zupancic began judo at the age of 5 at the Formokan Judo Club in Oshawa. Years later, she made her Olympic debut at the London 2012 where she was eliminated in the second round of Olympic competition. In Rio 2016, she is determined to win a gold medal and we will be cheering her all the way!

Her mantra is #sweatinggold.

Priscilla Gagne began judo in 2010 and had her first international suc- cess in the 2015 World Cup (Hungary) in the B1 visually impaired -52kg division. She then followed this success with a silver medal fin- ish at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto.
