Dybdahl, Ph.D. Date completed: September 2002 The main goal of this study was to develop a theory of missionary outreach to unchurched Czech people which is biblically informed and culturally relevant. The theoretical proposal for a plausible model of churching in the Czech Republic builds on basic theological, philosophical, and conceptual assumptions (chapter 2), a societal analysis of the problem of Czech churching (chapter 3), and a review of the issues relating to the situation of existing churches and religious movements. Based on Wallace’s theory of revitalization movements a model is developed for starting a missionary movement that aims at reaching today’s unchurched and seemingly irreligious segments of the Czech population. Further reproduction prohibited without permission. of communicating the gospel and envisions multiple forms for developing a community of believers. The field research underlying the theoretical proposal included ethnographic and assessment-oriented research. The ethnographic research combined qualitative and quantitative methods. A newspaper content analysis searched for dominant themes and prevalent cultural values in the newspaper media, and then analyzed newspaper articles related to religion and/or church. The ethnographic field research measuring the religiosity of the Czech people consisted of a survey of religiosity (Appendix B), and six in-depth interviews of unchurched people (Appendix A). By clarifying some aspects of the religiosity of unchurched people it contributed a depth dimension to the proposed revitalization movement model. In order to test some emerging conclusions, a number of brief interviews with unchurched believers, active church goers, and church leaders, as well as a survey measuring the health of congregations (Appendix C) were done. The multivariate methodology generated the findings that provided the building blocks for a theory of a context-sensitive model of churching. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner. The history of the Church in this country is also the history of this nation. And the history of the nation, of the country’s inhabitants, always has been and still is the history of the Church. The Church’s mission is to serve mankind, and we want to fulfil Jesus’s call: “I did not come to be served but to serve.” The beautiful and unique pastoral constitution of Vatican Coun- cil II, the document “Joy and Hope” begins with the words: “The joys and the hopes, the grief and the anxieties of the men of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted, these are the joys and hopes, the grief and anxieties of the followers of Christ.” This is the task that hundreds of thousands of men and women in this country strive to carry out. According to expert statistical estimates, approximately three million Roman Catholics live in our country along with almost twenty thousand of our Eastern broth- ers and sisters in the Greek Catholic Church, with whom we are in full communion. There are an additional million Christians who belong to a variety of other Churches. Ecumenical cooperation, which was strengthened by decades of persecution and bullying of the Church, is flourishing remarkably in this country.

The lectures of Amedeo Molnár awakened my interest in the history of fourteenth-century Bohemia and especially in the preacher Milicius de Chremsir. When in 1993 the Dean of the Faculty Jakub Trojan offered me the possibility to do research in Prague, I gratefully started work on this project. The organizational framework of my study was established as a result of vivid co-operation between the Theological Faculties of Prague and Amsterdam.     CONSISTORIO, CANONIZACIÓN DE SIETE BEATOS Y VISITAS DE CORTESIA A LOS NUEVOS CARDENALES Dll, 27/10/2014 Vatican News Ciudad del Vaticano, 10 FEB 2012 (VIS).-El sábado, 18 de febrero, a las 10,30, en la basílica de San Pedro, Benedicto XVI celebrará un consistorio ordinario público para la creación de 22 nuevos cardenales, la imposición de la birreta, la entrega del anillo y la asignación del título o diaconía, según informa hoy un comunicado de la Oficina de las Celebraciones Litúrgicas del pontífice.Asimismo, al final del rito, el Santo Padre presidirá un consistorio ordinario público para la canonización de los beatos Jacques Berthieu, sacerdote profeso de la Compañía de Jesús, mártir; Pedro Calungsod, catequista laico, mártir; Giovanni Battista Piamarta, sacerdote y fundador de la congregación de la Sagrada Familia de Nazareth y de la congregación de las Hermanas Humildes Siervas del Señor; María del Monte Carmelo, fundadora de las hermanas de la Inmaculada Concepción Misioneras de la Enseñanza; Marianne Cope, religiosa de la Congregación de las Hermanas de la Tercera Orden de San Francisco de Syracusa( New York); Katherine Tekakwitha, laica, y Anna Schäffer, laica.Esa misma tarde, entre las 16,30 y las 18,30, los nuevos cardenales recibirán, en el Aula Pablo VI y en diversas salas del Palacio Apostólico, a cuantos deseen efectuar visitas de cortesía.
