Nella classe Star brillante 3° posto per Diego Negri e Luigi Viale, grazie al 4° posto nella prima manche, migliorato con un 2° nella prova successiva. Da notare che nella prima regata gli azzurri delle Fiamme Gialle erano secondi a 200 metri dall?arrivo, ma hanno dovuto eseguire una penalità durante il lato di poppa per intervento della Giuria (bandiera gialla per ?pompaggio?; vale come una ammonizione e va evitata una seconda bandiera gialla nel corso del campionato), scivolando al 4°. La Star è divisa in due flotte che corrono col sistema delle batterie. Al comando della classifica i francesi Xavier Rohart-Pascal Rambeau (3-1), davanti ai campioni mondiali in carica i neozelandesi Hamish Pepper-Carl Williams (3-1), e dagli azzurri Negri-Viale (4-2) che sono appaiati ai fuoriclasse brasiliani Robert Scheidt-Bruno Prada (2-4). Al 5° posto l?ex timoniere di +39 Challenge l?inglese Iain Percy?Andrew Simpson (1-8) con l?ex iridato e oro olimpico il polacco Mateusz Kusznierevicz-Dominik-Zycki.

    Press Release no. 3 – April 15th, 2012 Casino Cup STAR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP POLISH CREW LEADING AFTER RACE 1 Strong wind (20 knots) for the first race of the Star European Championship. Many retirements, due to the particular conditions of the sea. A strong East wind, around 20 knots, has characterized Race-1 of the Star European Championship – Casino Cup run today at Sanremo. After a particularly difficult regatta, with some retirements, the first place of the standings is occupied by Poland (Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki, belonging to the Gdanski Klub Zeglarski). Second place for Germany, thanks to Johannes Polgar and Markus Koy (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein Hobel) and third place for Sweden, with Fredrik Loof and Max Salminen (KSSS). Among the many sailors that are taking part in the Star European Championship, the Polish crew, consisting of Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki, and Swedish Fredrik Loof and Max Salminen, have been already qualified for the next Olympic Games. Besides them, among the protagonist of London 2012 there will be also the Germans Robert Stanjek and Frithjof Kleen (fourth place for them today), the Norwegians Sigurd Melleby Eivind and Morland Pedersen Petter (fifth place today) and Portuguese Alfonso Domingos and Federico Melo (tenth). Diego Negri and Enrico Voltolini, European Champions in 2011, belonging to the Sailing Team of Guardia di Finanza, are now in sixth place. First day report from the event: The 42 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mapfre, third event in the ISAF Sailing World Cup, started on Monday in Palma with gruelling conditions, sun and clear blue sky. The 49ers and Star races were delayed waiting for the wind to ease. After a postponement, the Star fleet completed the two scheduled races in challenging conditions. Double Gold medallists and current World Champions, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) are making a successful come back to the competition after a long break with two bullets claimed in a fleet packed with medallists and world champions. The top five share a total of 15 Olympic medals including seven Golds collected in the Star and Finn classes.     Carissimi, siamo finalmente giunti a questo appuntamento Olimpico! Lo Sport – nella più nobile delle sue funzioni – potrà riunire tutti sotto un’unica bandiera: quella della solidarietà, del rispetto e della sana competizione. Questi lunghi mesi che ci stiamo lasciando faticosamente alle spalle hanno severamente provato il nostro spirito e ci hanno costretto a considerare in maniera più genuina i rapporti umani, le priorità della nostra vita, i nostri affetti. Lo Sport in questo contesto ha rafforzato la sua valenza sociale dimostrandosi un collante e nel contempo una valvola di sfogo. Questi Giochi devono e vogliono rappresentare una rinascita verso un graduale ritorno alla normalità, senza però dimenticare quanto accaduto. Preparare una spedizione Olimpica non è affatto semplice, soprattutto in uno sport come il nostro dove la preparazione atletica è solo uno dei molteplici componenti: meteorologia, tecnologia, programmazione, logistica, gestione delle risorse sono solo alcuni degli aspetti che attraversano in maniera trasversale il mondo della vela. Per questo vorrei ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno partecipato alla formazione di questa squadra: il Direttore Tecnico Michele Marchesini, tutti i Tecnici che in questo quadriennio hanno lavorato meticolosamente, il Team Manager Guglielmo Vatteroni, e tutto il comparto tecnico, medico e atletico dei collaboratori. Per ultimo – ma non certo per importanza, visto che questa pubblicazione è dedicata proprio a loro – il mio pensiero va ai ragazzi che ci rappresenteranno ai Giochi Olimpici: questi anni di preparazione li hanno visti maturare come atleti ma soprattutto sotto il profilo umano. Il mio augurio è che possano raccogliere il massimo da questa esperienza che rimane uno dei momenti più alti e indimenticabili nella vita di uno sportivo.

With a difficult weather and a shifty wind, Rohart, a former world champion, and Ponsot led the race from the start, and finally won it. The beginning of this world championship was difficult. The race was first postponed off shore, and then another time on shore. All the competitors were highly motivated on the departure line, and so the race comittee got two general recalls, and at the third start, three individual recalls! 2012 World Champions Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada. Photo The strategy chosen by a group in the middle of the line was the best: remaining centered, and by Pierrick Contin/Coych. following the wind. Among them, Xavier Rohart and Pierre-Alexis Ponsot managed to take the lead just before the upwind mark, and stayed at the first place during all the race. Behind them, Fredrik Loof and Peter O'Leary were fighting for the 2nd place, and finally the Swedish sailor took the advantage. Xavier Rohart: "It was difficult today, especially for the race comittee. They managed to remain calm, and that's great for us. We kept focused on our original strategy to stay in the middle of the fleet, and to follow the wind. We had a good speed, and that helped a lot to be the first boat upwind." Second Race: The Swiss sailor Flavio Marazzi won the second race with Robert Scheidt less than a half boat length behind him.

    1 Vela: a Palma di Maiorca Negri-Viale conquistano un ottimo 3° posto di Redazione Riviera24.it – 17 Aprile 2007 – 22:00 Negri-Viale conquistano il 3° posto all?Eastern Emisphere (l?ex Europeo di Primavera) della classe Star Vittoria del brasiliano Scheidt davanti al polacco Kusnierevicz Ottimo 9° posto per Modena-Marchesini che precedono il campione del mondo Pepper Mentre la Louis Vuitton Cup resta senza vento, la vela olimpica si muove. I velisti azzurri Diego Negri e Luigi Viale hanno conquistato il 3° posto al campionato “Eastern Emisphere” della classe olimpica Star concluso oggi a Palma di Maiorca in Spagna. La regata – equivalente dell’Europeo di Primavera della classe Star – è stata vinta dal fuoriclasse brasiliano Robert Scheidt, davanti al polacco Kusnierevicz (quattro medaglie olimpiche in due). Il bronzo di Negri-Viale, campioni europei in carica, conferma il buon livello e la costanza di questo equipaggio, e poteva essere migliore senza uno sfortunato lato finale della prova conclusiva nel quale hanno perso alcune posizioni. Staccati in classifica alcuni grandi specialisti della Star come il francese Rohart, ex campione mondiale (5°), e il neozelandese Pepper, iridato in carica (10°). Quest’ultimo è stato preceduto dall’altro equipaggio azzurro di Luca Modena e Michele Marchesini, con un ottimo 9° posto. Il campionato era anche valido quale prima prova delle selezioni olimpiche italiane per la classe Star. L’Italia è con la Germania l’unico paese ad aver piazzato due equipaggi ai primi 10 posti di questo campionato paragonabile a un titolo continentale ma arricchito da talenti provenienti da tutto il mondo, in preparazione per la lunga stagione preolimpica europea che culminerà a luglio con il super-mondiale della vela olimpica di Cascais in Portogallo, qualificazione per Pechino (Qingdao) 2008.

    Non è andata bene per noi chiamiamole nella splendida Weymouth, anzi REGATE OLIMPIADI SPECIALE proprio male. Per cui, prima di parlare del nostro orticello, andiamo a vedere cosa si è visto e percepito dal- le scogliere del Dorset. I muscoli dei finnisti impegnati allo spasimo nelle regate con 25 nodi. La Medal Race dei Laser Radial con die- ci ragazze che girano una boa nello spazio di pochi secondi, con sorpassi, planate, manovre al limite ma sem- pre in assoluto controllo. La sfida a tre nelle Star con Percy che marca Scheidt lasciando troppo spazio a Freddy Loof che alla fine ne approfitta. L’epopea di Gabrio Zandonà e Pietro Zucchetti determinati verso l'obiettivo del podio, mancato per soli 9 punti. Il loro quarto posto nei 470 maschili è il miglior risultato di una spedizione olimpica azzurra purtroppo negativa 082 FAREVELA ottobre 2012 fuori dal podio, con una sfinge cinese fred- che è una deriva unita al suo equipaggio.
