Početkom 3. veka pr. n. e. javlja se i tip Dunaszekcső, koji obuhvata veliku teritoriju Podunavlja, Posavine, Potisja, Pomorišja i Pomoravlja.1 Ključne reči: članci astragalnih pojaseva, Podunavlje, gvozdeno doba, sistematizacija, hronologija, distribucija In this paper the authors present new and unpublished finds of astragal belts segments, as well as those examples published in less available literature. Based on the classifications by previous researchers, and minor contributions by the authors, a total of five types of segments have been defined – Glasinac, Shtojit, Banoštor, Syrmian and Dunaszekcső. The Syrmian type was further divided into three variations: Osijek, Belgrade, and Mačva. The first astragal belt segments are considered to be examples of the Glasinac type that marked the period from the beginning of the 6th cent. BC until the middle of the 5th cent. BC. The Shtojit type, which is geographically very limited, developed in the ter- ritory of present day Albania. In the middle of late 6th cent. BC, the Banoštor type occurs, and further chronological development lead to the Syrmian type and its variants Osijek, Mačva, and Belgrade. During the period between the middle of 6th and the middle of 3rd cent. BC, these types of belt segments encompassed a large territory in the Danube and Sava river regions, and to a lesser extent the Morava river region. At the beginning of the 3rd cent. BC, the Dunaszekcső type also occurs, encompassing a vast territory of the Danube, Sava, Tisza, Mureș, and Morava river regions.2 Key words: segments of astragal belts, Danube region, Iron Age, systematization, chronology, distribution 1 Tekst je rezultat projekta Ministarstva prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije Arheologija Srbije, kulturni identitet, integracioni faktori, tehnološki procesi i uloga centralnog Balkana u razvoj u evropske praistorije (br. MGZ 75/1 (2016): 94–122 OLDENBOURG Aufsatz Gaj Trifković Carnage in the Land of Three Rivers: The Syrmian Front 1944–1945 DOI 10.1515/mgzs-2016-0004 Abstract: The aim of this article will be to examine the operations of the Yugoslav Partisans and German armed forces in northern parts of Yugoslavia in late 1944 and early 1945. Since the summer of 1941, the communist-led guerrilla movement had conducted a massive guerrilla campaign against Axis forces, at the same time striving to build a regular army and thus gain recognition as a full-time member of the anti-Hitler coalition. The arrival of the Red Army and liberation of country’s eastern parts in September and October 1944 secured material foundations for a creation of a regular field force. Whether this nascent army would be capable of defeating its retreating, but still dangerous German foe remained to be seen. Keywords: Yugoslavia, Syrmia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Second World War, Parti- sans, Wehrmacht, front, operations, NOVJ The fierce fighting in the flat, open terrain of the province of Syrmia1 counted among the bloodiest of the whole war and left a lasting controversy about whether the Yugoslav Partisans should have pursued an active campaign on the so-called »Syrmian Front« in the first place. In the socialist Yugoslavia prior to the late 1970s, descriptions of operations on the Syrmian Front could usually be found in either general war histories or in unit histories; relevant Partisan docu- ments were published in several volumes of the massive »Zbornik dokumenata i 1 Syrmia (Serbian: Srem; Croatian: Srijem) is the geographical region between the rivers Danube and Sava, stretching from Belgrade in the east to the line north of Vukovar-Bosna estuary in the west.

  • Transport Upućen U Auschwitz Iz Vinkovaca U Kolovozu 1942. I Sudbina Srijemskih I Bijeljinskih Židova Za Vrijeme Drugoga Svjetskog Rata

  • Early Ornithological Expeditions to Syrmia and Banat (1809–1855) Rané Ornitologické Expedice Do Syrmie a Banátu (1809 – 1855)
Tichodroma 24: 109–114 (2012) ISSN 1337026X Early ornithological expeditions to Syrmia and Banat (1809–1855) Rané ornitologické expedice do Syrmie a Banátu (1809 – 1855) Jiří Mlíkovský Department of Zoology, National Museum, Václavské náměstí 68, CZ115 79 Praha 1, Czech Republic; email: [email protected] Abstract. A report of early ornithological expeditions to Syrmia and Banat is presented. These lands currently belong to the southern Vojvodina, Serbia, but in the past, they were a less safe region at the border between the Habsburg Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. The first who collected birds in the territory of Syrmia and Banat was Johann Natterer, an Austrian collector, in 1809. In 1834, Johann Salomon Petényi assumed the position of a curator of zoological collections in the Hungarian National Museum, and his activities opened the territory Hungary to foreign ornithologists. Simultaneously, the situation in Syrmia and Banat turned to the better and became more suitable for ornithological visits. Ornithological expeditions visited Syrmia and Banat in 1835 (Naumann), 1838 (Landbeck), 1840 (von Loebenstein), 1852 (Frič) and 1853–1855 (Zelebor). A first ornithologist, Ettinger, settled in the region in the mid-1850s. Consequently, the expedition era of ornithological explorations of Syrmia and Banat took its end and the era of standard ornithological research was commenced. Key words: ornithology, history, faunistics, Serbia, Romania, Hungary Introduction The first and for a long time the only orni thologist who visited the region probably was Syrmia and Banat are neighboring historical Johann Centurius von Hoffmannsegg in 1794 regions, the largest parts of which currently (see below), but first ornithological work was belong to the Vojvodina Province, Serbia.
