DMLA 2017 CONFERENCE

OCTOBER 22 — 24 THE NEW YORKER HOTEL Welcome to the 22nd Annual DMLA Conference at the iconic New Yorker Hotel

The Forum for Connectivity, Advocacy and Education

Thank you for being part of it!

We are pleased to be back in Manhattan and once again, we are teaming up with Visual Connections to make this an even bigger industry event. Both are being held at the New Yorker, with Visual Connections taking place on Wednesday, October 25th immediately following our DMLA Conference.

Again this year, Adobe is our Platinum sponsor. That support is so important to our organization and on behalf of all of us at DMLA, a heartfelt thank you!

The Programme Committee under the leadership of OPHELIA CHONG and our Executive Director, CATHY ARON, have done an outstanding job organizing this year’s programme and assembling an impressive group of speakers to share their views and insights with you.

We begin with our Keynote address by Jason Teichman, CEO of Pond5 and his take on the content paradox we live in - more content being produce and consumed than ever before yet falling budgets and tighter deadlines. Jason will share his views on how the sharing economy and technology are giving birth to a new paradigm in media. As we continue to broaden our relevance beyond photo agencies, a number of the sessions this year focus on motion from the perspective of creators, seller and buyers. We’ve been delighted to work with our sister footage associations, FOCAL and ACSIL on pulling those together.

Thanks to our Silver sponsor, Capture, we will be offering DMLA LIVE DAM where you will be able to upload your photo before the conference, allowing other attendees to put a face to a name to help them find you for meetings or networking opportunities.

It promises to be a busy Conference and hope that you find it both informative and beneficial to your business.

As always, your feedback on things we can do better is most welcome.

Joe Lombardo Artist Representative

My name is Joe Lombardo. I am an artist representative/agent of 20 years experience. I’ve seen a lot. I’ve done what I could do to be in the industry and help make it a better place to market, to advise others, to help my clients achieve their goals and my artists win new business. I’ve helped people “to look good” “to get hired” “to elevate” “to inspire” for almost my entire working career. I’ve worked on big campaigns and everything in between, global print campaigns, to digital film shorts, from fashion and beauty to pharma.

I started when I was 25 when I moved to NYC and I haven’t stopped trying to serve my photo community ever since. I’ve cleaned the garbage cans to gain experience as a representative and producer and dined at very expensive dinners with clients after the job was done. I’ve opened and closed photography businesses and opened again. I’ve even danced on a few tabletops with creatives until the wee hours of the morning. In short, I’ve worked hard, I’ve played hard, I’ve been up, down and sideways trying to find answers every year as the business of photography has changed, and understood that every year we needed to change with it.

COPYTRACK is the fair online platform for publishers, photographers, image agencies, and e-commerce vendors. It stands for a just and fair management of intellectual property on the internet. Images get stolen countless times every day by being copied and distributed illegally. The creators have an enormous financial disadvantage because of that. Copyright infringements are difficult to pursue and considered a trivial offense. In addition to the time required detecting an infringement and to take actions against it, there always remains a legal risk.

COPYTRACK provides a tool to risk-free and comfortably assert their demands. We offer our service free of charge and even bear the risk of legal fees. All we do is keeping a success-related commission.
