In "Mr. Fox of Venice", Jeremy Brett has another rewarding role; an unusual Based on the novel "The Evil of the Day" by Thomas Sterling sort of major-domo with most unexpected duties in unpredictable situations. But he is, of course, even in this early stage of his career, a young actor with a quite varied experience and a particular flair for the nonchalance essential to this type of part. Mr. Brett made his stage debut in rep,ertory in Manchester, following studies at the Central School of Speech and Drama; where he was awarded the Elsie Fogerty First Performance: Wednesday, 15th April, 1959 Prize and the William Poel Memorial Prize. In March 1956, he joined the Old Vic Company and, following the London season, continued with them during a very successful tour of Canada and the United States, until March 1957. During that period he appeared in "" (Paris) "Macbeth" (Malcolm) Monday to Friday at 7.30 p.m. "Richard III" (Duke of Aumerle) and "" (Troilus). In 1957 Mr. Brett was seen in his first musical, "Meet Me By Moonlight" at the Aldwych; and in 1958 he appeared with Margaret Leighton in Terence Rattigan's Matinee: Thursday at 2.30 p.m. "Variation on a Theme", and later thatfyear as Marchbanks in "Candida" at the Playhouse, Oxford. Saturday at 5.15 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Recent TV roles include Paul in ITV's "Myself When Young", and Wilfred in "Eden End", for BBC. As a screen actor, Jeremy Brett has als!> appeared in "War and Peace".
