Cassidy was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, January 14, 1934. He lived in the Kansas City area from 1940 until he moved to Pennsylvania in 1977. Mr. Cassidy was a librarian and historian. An avid collector of manuscript materials and photographs, Cassidy’s primary interest was the history of transportation in the Midwest, particularly the Kansas City area. Mr. Cassidy was a graduate of Park College, an Army veteran, and a past member of the All Souls Unitarian Church in Kansas City. He passed away in 1992, leaving behind his wife, Phoebe and two sons, Brian and Philip.
