COLONEL LAWRENCE B. HAVIRD

Colonel Lawrence B. Havird serves as the for Reserve Training , Detachment 720 at The Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. He is responsible for the recruitment and development of Air Force and United States Space Force officer candidates, serves as a Professor of Aerospace Studies, and represents the Air Force as its senior officer representative in the School of Undergraduate Education’s Joint Committee.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Havird completed a commander tour at Edwards Air Force Base, California, where he led over 1,700 total force Airmen and was responsible for on and off equipment maintenance and temporary aircraft modifications on over 60 highly modified developmental test and test support aircraft spanning nine airframe types. He has previously served as an air logistics complex vice commander, commanded three maintenance groups, four maintenance squadrons, and served as a deputy maintenance group commander. He has aircraft maintenance experience in fighter, bomber, tanker, airlift, commercial derivative airlift, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft. Prior to cross-training into the aircraft maintenance career field, Colonel Havird was a missile combat crew member and served as a officer for command and control operations. He is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute where he received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program.
