Alex Mckinnon Alex McKinnon Inspirational Former Rugby League Player Alex McKinnon is proving to the world that it’s possible to reinvent and achieve quality of life – both personally and professionally – following a devastating, life- changing injury. A promising professional rugby player, with 49 NRL games experience, Alex was just 22 when he suffered a spinal cord injury from a lifting tackle while playing for the Newcastle Knights in Melbourne. Now on the road to recovery, Alex is available for meet and greets and is passionate about change management, leadership and helping others achieve their best. More about Alex McKinnon: Alex McKinnon grew up in Aberdeen, New South Wales. He left his home town at the age of 14 to attend St Gregory’s College Campbelltown with a dream of playing professional Rugby League. Alex was selected in every New South Wales and Australian representative team throughout his junior years, which culminated in his selection as captain of the Australian Junior Kangaroos in 2012. Following his spinal injury in 2014, Alex was classified as a quadriplegic and endured an extended period in Intensive Care and hospital. Confronted by the inability to walk, use his hands, or perform normal daily activities, he was suddenly facing unimaginable challenges. With the world watching, Alex made a commitment to break the ‘why me?’ mentality and make the most of his situation. Now focusing on rehab, education and reinventing himself, Alex continually challenges himself to get out of his comfort zone, resist being governed by the uncontrollable and is motivated to be the best he can possibly be. This time last year I was reflecting on 2018, the year in which we won the Australian Government Secondary School of the Year, and I couldn’t help but think that it would be a great challenge to better 2018. Well, I needn’t have been concerned and I’m sure you will see why as I take you on a bit of a journey through the last 11 months - we’ve had another stellar year. I’m going to start with our academic success because that is unashamedly our No.1 priority. Perhaps the highlight was our 3rd consecutive year of best-ever NAPLAN results; in every category these were record results for both Years 7&9. Our academic extension program continues to produce student excellence across all years.

17 OCT 2014 #46 This Saturday at Mt Smart our aim is to beat the Aussies And to show Mt Smart is the home of rugby league NOT NORTH HARBOUR LET’S FILL MT SMART TO SHOW THE COUNCIL WHERE WE WANT TO STAY 7pm kick off Junior Kiwis v Junior Kangaroos 5pm PIRTEK NZRL NATIONAL PREMIERSHIP FINAL Akarana Falcons v Counties Manuaku Stingrays Entrance Make a big banner and share in $ 5 adults, lots of prizes. Winning banner children 12 years gets four 2015 season tickets and under to the Vodafone Warriors. FREE SPREAD THE WORD AND LET’S FILL MT SMART! If ever there was a great chance for rugby league fans to show Auckland City we love Mt Smart it comes this Saturday when the Junior Kiwis play Australia at 7pm. You can talk the talk but at some stage you have to walk the walk, and that stage is Saturday. And it will only cost league fans: $5 – with Under 12s free As you know there are all sorts of plans to move the Vodafone Warriors, and they all come down to dollars. You can take fl ower boxes for a few million in Queen St, and you can take millions for offi ces for people who can’t process a building application without dynamite strapped to their backsides, and you can take millions of dollars for any other hare-brained scheme the council comes up with. But few chances to show the council how much us poor league fans love Mt Smart come up. There has been talk of a march down Queen St but they are a dime a dozen, and this Saturday gives us the chance to do something totally different.

  • TO: NZRL Staff, Districts and Affiliates and Board FROM: Cushla Dawson DATE: 10 August 2009 RE: Media Summary Tuesday 04 August
TO: NZRL Staff, Districts and Affiliates and Board FROM: Cushla Dawson DATE: 10 August 2009 RE: Media Summary Tuesday 04 August to Monday 10 August 2009 Bargain Bryson holds hopes for Kiwis payoff: Three Goodwin boys have played in the NRL. There was Luke, who was with the Western Reds; Bronx, the Canberra fullback sacked after a pub incident; and now Bryson, the bargain Bulldogs wing with the millionaire performances. And yet 23-year-old Bryson, with 16 tries in 17 games this season, is the only one who hasn't worn a New Zealand representative jumper. Last year, when Luke coached the Maori team and Bronx played fullback, there was no younger brother. League may hit hallowed turf: EXCLUSIVE: Australian and New Zealand league officials are expected to meet this week with Eden Park bosses to discuss the possibility of staging a test between the Kangaroos and Kiwis at the hallowed ground next year. Sunday News has been told NRL marketing boss Paul Kind and director of finance Ed Farish who lend their help to the Australian Rugby League when needed will touch down in Auckland in the next 24 hours. It's understood they will hold discussions with new NZRL CEO Jim Doyle and will also meet with Eden Park officials while here. Injury curse robs Kiwis of Asotasi again: The 24-test veteran suffered yet another season-ending injury last night, damaging the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during South Sydney's upset 36-22 win over defending champions Manly in the National Rugby League (NRL).

  • 2019 Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club Limited Annual Report 2019
MANLY-WARRINGAH RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED ANNUAL REPORT 2019 MANLY-WARRINGAH RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED ANNUAL REPORT 2019 2 FOREWORD TO THE REPORT Welcome to the 2019 Annual Report of the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club (MWRLFC). We produce this report each year as our contribution to the history and record keeping of the Club and the Sea Eagles. The MWRLFC in its current and previous form (the Manly-Warringah District Rugby League Football Club) has produced an Annual Report every year since 1947. By producing this report, we do not purport to represent ourselves as the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles Limited (MWSE Ltd) which is a separate legal entity administering and funding the Team. We sincerely thank the current private owners of the Sea Eagles - the Penn family, Andrew Michael and Gary Wolman - who continue to financially support the Sea Eagles. What should not be forgotten or ignored however is that the MWRLFC is also a minority owner of the MWSE Ltd. That means that MWRLFC members also have an ownership stake in the MWSE Ltd, the Sea Eagles. The MWRLFC holds the Preference Share in the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Ltd which gives our members, through their right to vote, determination over the Team’s name, colours and its home ground, as well as two voting positions on the MWSE Ltd Board which has seven members. That’s why it’s important that the MWRLFC remains a strong voice for our members. Our aim this year was to grow our membership, which we did successfully, through the specially designed, individually numbered MWRLFC membership cap.
