TUTORIAL SELECTIONS: St. Catherine’s utilizes the tutorial education system, which allows you to pursue a highly personalized course of study. Rather than select from a list of standardized courses, students indicate areas of study in which they would like to focus. Please consult http://www.stcatz.ox.ac.uk/Subjects when proposing your tutorial subject areas. You must propose a primary and secondary subject area for each term.

Please note that although Oxford courses are categorized under subject names (such as "Philosophy”), students must choose a more specific topic to study according to their own preferences and the requirements of their home universities or colleges. You may wish to speak with your academic advisor on your home campus about potential tutorial options.

Think about texts, authors or a particular theory, person or period as a starting point for your proposal. For example, ‘English’ is too broad. Instead, ‘Gender Relations in Shakespeare’s Plays’ is appropriate.

Upon acceptance, Oxford will use the proposals below to find appropriate tutors. If no tutor is available for any of the proposed subjects, IES Abroad will facilitate selection of alternative tutorial subjects. You will not be able to make changes to your tutorial subject once placements have been made. However, it may be possible to make slight adjustments within your tutorial subject.

□ I will secure my own independent housing Students who have previously lived abroad, or who have family or friends in London, may wish to arrange their own housing. However, your home school must approve your request and IES cannot accept responsibility for your housing arrangements. Upon acceptance, students who elect to arrange their own housing must notify the IES Chicago office no later than the deadline listed on the Independent Housing Form for their program. If timely notification and home school approval are received, students will be eligible to have a housing allocation deducted from their program fee. If notification is received after the deadline, no deduction will be given.
