LAPIANA** The history of the formative era of antitrust jurisprudence has become the subject of extensive scholarly inquiry. Starting with Robert Bork's attempt to attribute specific economic motives to those who enacted the law,' examinations of the course of events leading up to the creation of the rule of reason enunciated in Standard Oil Co. v. United States2 have unearthed relationships between contemporary economic and political theory and the drafting and enforcement of the Sherman Act.3 This article attempts to supplement these efforts by placing the language of the major Supreme Court opinions interpreting the Sherman Act in a context of thought about the nature of law. It is an attempt to begin to probe the legal culture of the period, but, of course, it is only an attempt. A full and complete picture of American legal culture at the turn of the century is yet to be written. -

After the most diligent search there is lack of much desired information con- cerning many of our alumni. The compiler regrets that about many graduates of the college he is able to say so little ; and in most cases the, want of knowledge is con- cerning the men about whom the readers of this book most desire to learn. It is the classmate who has been lost sight of that we most wish to know about. But while the compiler appreciates and regrets the defects in this catalogue, he trusts its very faults will stimulate all persons who have information of interest concerning any alumnus, or who discover errors herein, to communicate with him immediately that omissions may be supplied and errors corrected in subsequent editions. Greenmount Cemetery Booklet From
Greenmount Cemetery: A Walking Tour of Burlington's History A Historic Guidebook by University of Vermont Students INTRODUCTION Scott A. McLaughlin The Greenmount Cemetery is the oldest institution and architectural feature in Burlington, Vermont. In its landscape and monuments, the cemetery captures the community's history. The cemetery's most prominent and well-known feature is a monument to Ethan Allen, a man who was a prominent figure of the Revolutionary War and founder of the State of Vermont. However, walking through the cemetery, you also can see surnames that appear on many of Burlington's street signs and buildings, representing the who's who of Burlington. Among these monuments are also those of shop owners, farmers, laborers, innkeepers, captains, and other folk, representing the great diversity of residents in the city since its founding in 1763. In addition to the name and date of birth and death of individuals presented on the headstones are clues to the attitudes of Burlington's residents had toward religion, life, death, children, and the roles of men and women in society. This information is encapsulated in each headstone’s size, style, iconography, text, material, and location. One of the functions of this booklet is to teach people how to "read" the monuments for this historical information. In addition, the authors hope that today's residents of Burlington and citizens of Vermont come to recognize that they live in a world whose current state is due to the legacy of those buried in the Greenmount Cemetery. Finally, the authors encourage visitors to walk through Burlington’s history as they tour Greenmount Cemetery. -
