Title Available from National Book Foundation, 6-Mauve Area, Taleemi Chowk, Sector G-8/4, ISLAMABAD P A K I S T A N (ii) PREFACE The Pakistan National Bibliography is produced with the object to list new literary materials published in Pakistan and deposited at National Library of Pakistan under Copyright Ordinance 1962 as amended by Copyright (Amendment) Act 1973, 1992 and Amendment Ordinance 2000. It also includes the books received through purchase, gifts and exchange basis during current year. The following classes of publications have been excluded: a) The keys and guides to text-books and ephemeral material such as publicity pamphlets etc. b) Periodicals (except the first issue of a new periodical and the first issue of a periodical under a new title.) c) Maps. d) Musical scores. Material included and Style The present issue of the Pakistan National Bibliography is arranged subject-wise. The classification of subjects is based on the 20th edition of Dewey Decimal Classification. Cataloguing practices follow the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2nd Revised Edition, 1988. The accession number of each book is shown against each entry in parentheses. A list of abbreviations and language symbols used in the Bibliography is given after the Preface. This issue has been presented in two parts. Part 1 gives details of 368 Pakistani publications in English language. Part II carries 1287 Urdu language publications. Each of these parts is further divided into three sections:- Classified section This section arranges the entries subject wise in numerical sequence of classification numbers with full bibliographical details. The full information about books is given in the Classified Section. The main entries have been made under names of the authors or corporate bodies responsible for the work or under titles. They include, in addition to the author’s name, the full title, the place of publication the publisher, the year of publication, the price, ISBN, etc. The language of the book, other than English, bilingual or multilingual books are denoted by symbols which are given at the left hand bottom corner of each entry. (iii) Index Each part of the Bibliography has a separate index, which contains entries or reference entries under authors, titles, editors, translators, compilers, series and subjects in one alphabetical sequence. In certain cases, the entries have also been made under the names of the institutions responsible for bringing out the publications. If some one wishes to know books that have been published on particular subject, he/she will find a decimal code number, which must be sought in the Classified Section. Publishers List A list of publishers whose books are included in the bibliography is given at the end of English and Urdu / other languages part. He is a self made professional who started his education career at a village primary school in Sialkot. Through dedication and hard work he ended up as a post graduate student at Imperial College London University (UK). This world famous institution awarded him PhD and DIC in a minimum period of 3 years. Besides, he has the honor to work as a research scholar for one year at Research Establishment, Winfrith Research Interest Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amin (Atomic Energy Authority) UK. There, he made extensive use of packages Application of MSc, Applied Math (PU) specially prepared for the Analysis of Nuclear Reactors on IBM computers Mathematics in PhD, DIC Imperial College, London (UK) and produced two research reports. On his return to Pakistan in 1962, he Science and continued the research work and produced research papers published in Engineering. Journal of Natural Sciences, Govt College Lahore. I am happy to acknowledge that the university where I received my training in the period from 1933 to 1940 also provided the stimulus for its final completion. I am greatly indebted to the personal interest taken in my studies by professor Dr. W. F. Wertheim and Dr. J. M. Pluvier. Without their encouragement, their critical observations and their advice the result would certainly have been of less value than it may be now. The same applies to Mrs. Dr. S. C. L. Vreede-de Stuers, who was prevented only by ill-health from playing a more active role in the last phase of preparation of this thesis. I am also grateful to professor Dr. G. F. The four names of great men from Sindh that he gave, included three former students of Sindh Madressah. Today, in 21st century, it gives pleasure that Sindh Madressah has kept alive that tradition of producing great men to serve the humanity.

    Combating Terrorism Center at West Point Occasional Paper Series Shiism and Sectarian Conflict in Pakistan Identity Politics, Iranian Influence, and Tit-for-Tat Violence Hassan Abbas September 22, 2010 1 2 Preface As the first decade of the 21st century nears its end, issues surrounding militancy among the Shi‛a community in the Shi‛a heartland and beyond continue to occupy scholars and policymakers. During the past year, Iran has continued its efforts to extend its influence abroad by strengthening strategic ties with key players in international affairs, including Brazil and Turkey. Iran also continues to defy the international community through its tenacious pursuit of a nuclear program. The Lebanese Shi‛a militant group Hizballah, meanwhile, persists in its efforts to expand its regional role while stockpiling ever more advanced weapons. Sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shi‛a has escalated in places like Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, and not least, Pakistan. As a hotbed of violent extremism, Pakistan, along with its Afghan neighbor, has lately received unprecedented amounts of attention among academics and policymakers alike.
