ZooKeys 923: 15–32. https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.923.48593 Abstract A faunistic and ecological survey was conducted to document the diversity of freshwater atyid shrimps of Dawanshan Island. Two species of Caridina that occur on this island were documented and discussed. One of these, Caridina tetrazona sp. nov. is described and illustrated as new to science. It can be easily distinguished from its congeners based on a combination of characters, which includes a short rostrum, the shape of the endopod of the male first pleopod, the segmental ratios of antennular peduncle and third maxilliped, the slender scaphocerite, and the absence of a median projection on the posterior margin.

  • Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China
Country Report for the Preparation of the First Report on the State of the World’s Animal Genetic Resources Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China June 2003 Beijing CONTENTS Executive Summary Biological diversity is the basis for the existence and development of human society and has aroused the increasing great attention of international society. In June 1992, more than 150 countries including China had jointly signed the "Pact of Biological Diversity". Domestic animal genetic resources are an important component of biological diversity, precious resources formed through long-term evolution, and also the closest and most direct part of relation with human beings. Therefore, in order to realize a sustainable, stable and high-efficient animal production, it is of great significance to meet even higher demand for animal and poultry product varieties and quality by human society, strengthen conservation, and effective, rational and sustainable utilization of animal and poultry genetic resources. The "Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was compiled in accordance with the requirements of the "World Status of Animal Genetic Resource " compiled by the FAO. The Ministry of Agriculture" (MOA) has attached great importance to the compilation of the Report, organized nearly 20 experts from administrative, technical extension, research institutes and universities to participate in the compilation team. In 1999, the first meeting of the compilation staff members had been held in the National Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service, discussed on the compilation outline and division of labor in the Report compilation, and smoothly fulfilled the tasks to each of the compilers.

ZooKeys 991: 137–153. https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.991.54935 Abstract A new species of the genus Goniurosaurus is described based on three specimens collected from a limestone cave in Huaiji County, Guangdong Province, China. Based on molecular phylogenetic analyses, the new species is nested within the Goniurosaurus yingdeensis species group. However, morphological analyses cannot ascribe it to any known species of that group. It is distinguished from the other three species in the group by a combination of the following characters: scales around midbody 121–128; dorsal tubercle rows at midbody 16–17; presence of 10–11 precloacal pores in males, and absent in females; nuchal loop and body bands immaculate, without black spots; iris orange, gradually darker on both sides.

  • Microrna Expression Profiling of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells Associated with Syphilis
Huang et al. BMC Infectious Diseases (2020) 20:165 https://doi.org/10.1186/s12879-020-4846-x RESEARCH ARTICLE Open Access MicroRNA expression profiling of peripheral blood mononuclear cells associated with syphilis Tao Huang1,2, Jun Zhang1, Wujian Ke1, Xiaohui Zhang1, Wentao Chen1, Jieyi Yang1, Yiwen Liao1, Fangwen Liang3, Shuqing Mei4, Mingjiu Li5, Zhenzhou Luo6, Qiwei Zhang1,7, Bin Yang1 and Heping Zheng1* Abstract Background: Treponema pallidum (T. pallidum) infection evokes significant immune responses, resulting in tissue damage. The immune mechanism underlying T. pallidum infection is still unclear, although microRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to influence immune cell function and, consequently, the generation of antibody responses during other microbe infections. However, these mechanisms are unknown for T. pallidum. Methods: In this study, we performed a comprehensive analysis of differentially expressed miRNAs in healthy individuals, untreated patients with syphilis, patients in the serofast state, and serologically cured patients. miRNAs were profiled from the peripheral blood of patients obtained at the time of serological diagnosis. Then, both the target sequence analysis of these different miRNAs and pathway analysis were performed to identify important immune and cell signaling pathways. Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed for microRNA analysis. Results: A total of 74 differentially regulated miRNAs were identified. Following RT-qPCR confirmation, three miRNAs (hsa-miR-195-5p, hsa-miR-223-3p, hsa-miR-589-3p) showed significant differences in the serofast and serologically cured states (P < 0.05). One miRNA (hsa-miR-195-5p) showed significant differences between untreated patients and healthy individuals. Conclusions: This is the first study of miRNA expression differences in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in different stages of T.

  • Sites of Zou and Ma Migration in the Qing
APPENDIX F Sites of Zou and Ma Migration in the Qing The information on Zou and Ma migration is drawn from the generational charts of the three primary genealogies, the MSDZZP (1945), FYZSZP (1947), and MTLZXZSZP (1911). Since precise dates of migration are given only very rarely, I have estimated the probable time of migration from the birth and death dates given. “Zou1” refers to the upper-shrine Zou lineage; “Zou2” to the lower-shrine.
