Trevor introduced a new member to the NSW committee Greg Barr-Jones a couple of years ago. Trev knew Gregg through the 2/1st Infantry Battalion Association as both their fathers were members of that unit. That contact was to reap huge benefits for the Reunion coffers.

It's a bit cheeky of me but I've included 'The Legacy' in this list of Gurkha books because it was my first attempt to write about Gurkhas in a fictional setting. The hero of the story is Harry Parker, a recently retired Gurkha officer, who, after being asked for help by the feisty and attractive Lucy Masters, finds himself having to recruit a small team of Gurkhas to take on one of the City of London's most unscrupulous bankers. There's lots of action, a bit of romance, some great locations (Nepal, Dartmoor, Edinburgh and London) and, of course, Gurkhas. I enjoyed writing the book so much that I've just finished the sequel, ' Reasonable Doubt !' You can find out more about 'The Legacy', and read the reviews, under the 'Books and Articles' tab at the top of this page (or just click this hyperlink !).

The writer describes the courage with discipline and dedication, the Gorkhas had while fighting for Nepal, their homeland during the Anglo-Nepal War (1814-1816) and for Britain in the First and Second World Wars, following the other wars and confrontations in many parts of the world. Despite a lot of hardships and pain in wars, they never showed their back to the enemies, but kept Britain’s imperial image always high with victories. They received Victoria Crosses along with other bravery medals. As a masculinity, the hegemonic masculinity is obviously present in the book since the high ranked British Officers are in the position to lead the Gorkha soldiers. However, the masculinity here is associated with the extreme level of bravery and that is the hyper- masculinity of the Gorkhas.
