We've done hobby shop trips, usually hitting 3 or 4 in a day, museum trips, or visiting other clubs. Just because we have some cold weather, ice, snow, or any combination of them, we can always find a way to spend the day and get something out of it, even a bad day at the building table, is a day spent building, if it went wrong, then you probably learned something, and that’s a good thing.

BIG SIT - Ed Isnardi and I got together to take the trip out to Mainline Hobbies in the Plymouth Meeting Mall out in PA., for this year’s Big Sit. It was mentioned somewhere about the day that we wonder why it is called the Big Sit, when most of the attendees stand around the whole time, discussing everything under the sun. It is a great day to meet friend’s old and new, check out everyone's latest builds, works in progress, tips and techniques. Thanks to Bob Doebley and everyone else who put this thing together, and especially the guys at Mainline Hobby for having us.

We also took the side trip out to visit Nicholas Smith Train and I used Gem Tac for that one case closed. Now I am only hoping Hobby out in Broomall PA. I did pick up some sanding mess something up, learn something from it, make the sticks that I did not have and Ed picked up some paints that he corrections and try again. There are a couple of car new stories from the net for your enjoyment as well. Seems Chip Foose has done it again and won yet another Ridler Award with a 66 Chevy Impala at the 2015 Detroit Autorama.

Lastly we have a special article that Dave and I received in an e-mail. Congratulations to Don and Elma Voth of Canada for taking home the Don Ridler Memorial Award from the 2015 Detroit Autorama but also thanks for sharing with the rest of us an amazing car.

Onto one of the many sheet metal mods: The rear wheel wells are raised 2 inches and pull forward 7 inches. This necessitated handmade steel quarter panel extensions that are welded in place eliminating the original pot metal pieces. Finishing out the rear sheet metal the factory deck lid now extends down an additional 2 inches to fit the bumper eliminating the stock aluminum trim above the bumper. The rear bumper is much narrower and handmade to feel more like mid-year Corvette styling. The lower rear body extends under the bumper all the way to the wheel arches for a continued belly pan across the bottom of the car. While they are called waste gates, sometimes these openings are referred to as “ducts”, that were added to the front fender to pick up Corvette styling cues. Mesh and chrome accents add to the styling details.

The side glass is prototyped and built with curves to fit its new application and tempered to last in the real world when the time comes to cruise down the highway. Individual compartments allow storage trays behind the twin Corvette bucket seats hold the removable quarter glass for an open- hard-top theme.

The (internal code F141) is an Italian produced by Ferrari. It was the brand's two-seat flagship, replacing the 575M in 2006 as a 2007 model, but was replaced for the 2013 model year by the F12berlinetta.

Styled by under the direction of Ferrari's Frank Stephenson, the 599 GTB debuted at the in February 2006. An upgrade that improves the car's handling, meaning Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione, includes a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the Delphi MagneRide magneto-rheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has also been lowered, which lowers the car's center of gravity. The package also includes optimized tires featuring a compound that offers improved grip. The car's electronics have also changed. The gearbox's shifts are faster in high-performance settings, while new engine software improved accelerator response. The exhaust silencer was modified to produce more marked and thrilling sound under hard usage while still delivering just the right comfort levels at cruising speed. The Tipo F140 C 6.0 L (5999 cc) V12 engine produces a 599 GTO maximum 620 PS (456 kW; 612 hp), making it the most powerful series production Ferrari road car of the time. At the time of its introduction, this is one of the few engines whose output exceeds 100 hp per liter of displacement without any sort of forced-induction mechanism such as supercharging or turbocharging. Its 608 N·m (448 ft·lbf) of torque will also be a new record for Ferrari's GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay (the original Enzo version could be taller as it would not block forward vision due to its mid-mounted position).

By Chip Glass

Hi, my name is Chip Glass, I have been building model trucks for over 40 years, and written how to articles with the help of my friends, on building model trucks. You might say that I live, sleep and eat model trucks, well maybe not eating, but you truck model builders know what I mean. Although I live in rural mountains of Kentucky and have attended many model shows outside Louisville and Frankfort, and Cincinnati, I have met many a few who have shared my interest in model truck building. Having first-hand knowledge of operating, servicing and repairing actual big rigs, I used this knowledge in the model trucks I have built. I enjoy sharing that knowledge with all my truck model building friends.

I came across your model car club newsletter when my friend Kenny gave me a printed copy of your newsletter, Instruction sheet is more detailed in the new release. because he knew I would enjoy the pictures of truck models you gentlemen built. I couldn’t help but notice that there are The first thing I want to stress it that you should read the truck model builders but no truck model building articles in instructions before you start building. This kit was the first your newsletter. I also noticed that in May your club is having detailed truck model AMT released in the late 60’s. The a contest regarding the Round2 Peterbilt California Hauler instruction sheets, in my opinion are not as good as the 359 which has just been re-released a few months ago for more detailed sheets of today. This was the First Dance for the first time in forty-five years. I just finished one and have AMT regarding how to put out a truck kit, and a learning two on the bench as we speak. experience for them. It was good, but their more recent kits are much better. The instruction sheet indicates that slots on the chassis may need to be enlarged to allow the cab to line up with the hood.

This brings me to my next point, “test fit or have a fit”, you always want to test fit or mock-up your parts, son it will save a lot of headaches in the end.

De-chroming parts on the chrome tree, really, do you want all those chrome parts on your authentic truck model, or do you want it to look like a real truck? I mean what was AMT thinking back then?

When I looked over the cab of my California Hauler, there were mold lines. How many real Peterbilt California Hauler 359’s did you ever see with mold lines. They should be removed if you want realism, but be careful not to sand any AMT has finally released this kit for the first time since 1969 detail of the rivets.

When attaching the fenders to the hood, you might get a A little bit about the kit. AMT has resurrected the California small gap, approximately .030, where they meet. The kit features dual rear axles with "Stabilaire" suspension. I hoped that these few tips helped you truck model builders One thing I believe that they got wrong with this kit were the somewhat. Some say that the rear shocks are two big, meaning thick. If the tweaking doesn’t work, you Chip might want to swap them out with ones from your parts box.

While were talking about the suspension, let’s talk about the kits tires. The kit comes with 10 hollow vinyl Firestone truck tires. Although they are really not that bad, you might have some better ones in your parts box to replace them. And don’t forget to sand them down so they will look more realistic.

Jersey Shore Model Car Club Newsletter Some Kids Were Digging In Their Backyard When They Hit Something. Police Have Never Seen Anything Like This

By conspiracyclub - Mar 3, 2015

We all grow up digging around in sand boxes hoping to strike it rich and find some hidden ancient treasures. What we typically find is an old Matchbox car or a present left behind by a cat. Either way it’s very rare to find something desirable. Well, that’s not quite the case with a young group of boys in California. They were digging in their yard when they found something that would make anyone’s jaw drop and their mouth start drooling. In 1978, these kids were digging in their yard when they came across something big, something metal, and something very valuable. A buried Ferrari!

After exhuming the Italian sports car, it was obvious that

someone had planned on returning to retrieve the vehicle. It was very crudely mummified with towels in the vents and tape on many of the seams however the windows weren’t fully closed causing a lot of interior damage.

The boys actually discovered a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS buried just a few feet under the dirt in their yard. The family had just moved into the house and immediately called authorities who came and roped off the area. A team of investigators arrived and unearthed the rare car.

Club Webpage - http://www.jsmcc.org/ Club Forum: - http://jsmcc.proboards.com/index.cgi Page 16

Jersey Shore Model Car Club Newsletter

Farmers Insurance was contacted and because of the VIN number they traced the last owner. After the investigation, it turns out that the owner of the car had actually hired thieves to steal the car and dump it in the ocean so he could claim insurance on it. The thieves buried the car with the intention of returning to pick it up.

Everything on the car has been restored to the exact factory condition. However, this car comes with some incredible history and an awesome story.

The buried Ferrari was then auctioned off after being on display with the incredible story being reported across the nation. It was purchased by a young mechanic who owned his own shop in California. The going price was estimated to be between $5,000 and $9,000.

The car even has a vanity plate which reads “DUG UP”. How perfect is that?

He fully restored the buried Ferrari and often enters the car into car shows. Here are the pictures of the car after the complete restoration.
