Time Content Activity 7:15am- Get Ready Breakfast/Get Ready � 8:00am for the SEL Challenge of the Day: Talk with your child about how animals and people communicate without using words. Bees dance to help other bees find honey Dogs bark, wag tails Birds chirp, sing People gesture Talk about specific traditional nonverbal strategies used to communicate (e.g., waving for good-bye, throwing a kiss, making a circle of the thumb and index finger, high fiving) and ensure that children know their meaning. Talk about cultural variations in nonverbal language (e.g., eye contact, open or closed gestures) and their meaning during interactions. Talk about American Sign Language and why it is used. Teach children some signs. Yesterday’s lesson was the conclusion of chapter 10 where you converted customary, metric, and units. In the following days, you will review these concepts along with and data sets which were covered in chapters 9 and 11. Today you will review conversion of units from chapter 10.

Jazz is an American Art form that was born in the African-American community in New Orleans. This music is not only celebrated here in the United States but all over the world. Watch this short video to hear about the beginnings of jazz. Jazz An important element of jazz is improvisation. Improvisation is creating music as you are performing. Watch this amazing video of two famous jazz musicians improvising with their voices called scat. Improvisation Music is so powerful. Often when we listen to music our bodies want to react somehow. 2:00pm- Science Welcome back! Today we are going to learn about weather and California’s 3:00pm water story. Use the and guiding questions to learn about the weather. 1. Compare and contrast weather and climate. 2. What factors account for a location's weather? 3. Describe how unequal heating causes weather.

Next, we are going to watch a video called California Water Story. The video will help us learn about California's history with water usage and the climate that drove the need for water to increase. The video will provide lots of information, so pause and scroll back if you need to. After watching, respond to these guiding questions. 1. Why did Los Angeles need an aqueduct? 2. Where is the most fertile soil found in California? 3. Besides water, what else did the State Water Project create? 4. Why is the Sacramento-San Joaquin delta so important? 5.
