Volume 15, Issue 1 10/17/2014 News After many delays, we expect the following new games this month: Temporum, Roll for the Galaxy, and Rattlebones. These follow recent releases of Quilt Show, Power Grid: Deluxe, and Pressure Cooker. We were able to present Quilt Show, Pressure Cooker, Temporum, Roll for the Galaxy, and Rattlebones at Gencon and all five were well received. In addition, we have receieved interest in all five of the games shown at Gencon from partners in other countries who are interested in publishing localized versions of these games. We are now temporarily out of Tzolk’in, Puerto Rico, Dominion: Big Box, Dominion: Intrigue, Caylus, Chicken Cha Cha Cha, and Power Grid. All of these games are being reprinted and will return to stock in the next few weeks - all before the end of the year. We also expect to release Mogul before the end of the year in both English and German. We have completed work on two additions to the Bohnanza game: Ladies & Gangsters and Princes & Pirates. Ladies & Gangsters is our English version of LadyBohn and Al Cabohne; Princes & Pirates is our English version of Bohnröschen and La Isla Bohnita. We are also working on a reprint of Elfenland, which will include the Elfengold expansion and a new map and transportation options to go with the new map. Although we do not have print schedules for any of these games, we expect the two Bohnanza games to be ready in either December or January. Elfenland should release in the spring of 2015. We are also planning a additions to the Dominion and Race for the Galaxy families of games for 2015. We will provide further information on these games in early 2015. Temporum In some of the best versions of reality, the Egyptians discover America, the industrial revolution happens early, and eventually robots take over. In others, the Renaissance produces a plutocracy, which leads to a utopia. Or perhaps to anarchy; it’s all in the subtle details. As a time traveler, you’ve seen it all, and it all has its place. What’s important is who’s in control in the long run, when time travel is invented. With other time travelers mucking with NEWSLETTER things for their own reasons, your course is clear: you will tamper with history as much as is needed, step on however many butterflies it takes, to get a perfect world, under your own benign rule. You start with standard six-sided dice, and throughout the course of the game you can remove sides and replace them with other sides that let you do all sorts of wonderful things. Every time you score points, you get closer to finding Rattlebones and winning the game! It’s an experience to six-sided-die for! RIO504; $59.95; 2-4 players, aged 14+; 15-30 minutes, author: Stephen Glenn Roll for the Galaxy In Roll for the Galaxy, each player creates a galactic civilization by recruiting workers (represented by custom dice) to settle worlds and build developments (represented by game tiles), over several game rounds. Players start each round by secretly rolling their workers to see what their workers wish to do this round. Each player uses one worker to select one of the five possible phases, and then all players reveal their workers. All player-selected phases occur in numerical order. Workers that complete tasks go to their player’s Citizenry. After the phases, players manage their empires, spending Galactic Credits to recruit workers from their Citizenries back to their cups, to be rolled next round. The player who best manages his workers to create the greatest space empire of worlds, developments, and victory point chips, wins. RIO492; $59.95; 2-5 players, aged 14+; length: 45 minutes; authors: Wei-Hwa Huang & Tom Lehmann. Pressure Cooker Welcome to Très Yummy, the hottest new restaurant to hit town in years, and tonight is opening night. Unfortunately, management has not yet hired a chef. Players take the role of chefs who are vying for the coveted role of Head Chef at Très Yummy. Do you have what it takes to handle the pressures of opening night, the speed to fill the orders before your competitors, and the ability to sniff out the freshest ingredients? The player who handles these tasks the best will be named Head Chef of Très Yummy and be known worldwide as the ultimate chef! RIO505; $34.95; 2-4 players, aged 14+; length: 30-60 minutes; author: Kane Klenko. Quilt Show Award-winning quilt makers devote considerable effort to collecting fabrics for their stashes. They shop for specific colors, often ranging into neighboring hues to achieve a nuanced, scrappy look. If they cannot find the colors they want, they sometimes hand dye their own fabric. They use their time and skills converting fabric into blocks, which they combine to make quilts. Often, quilters work on more than one quilt at a time to keep things interesting. They may embellish their quilts with intricate quilting stitches. The best quilters make good color choices, combine blocks skillfully, use their time well, and win generous purchase awards when they enter their quilts in show34 RIO460; $29.95; 2-4 players, aged 14+; length: 30-75 minutes; authors: Judy Martin & Steve Bennett.
