With this, the crisis has provided an occasion for a significant demonstration of the ability of states to implement policies and deliver services. This could create expectations among electorates of permanent changes to the macroeconomic regime, towards one characterised by a more protective state and a rebalancing between the state and the market. Significant political barriers to such a shift remain. The article argues that, in contrast to the aftermath of the two previous economic crises in Europe, many new ideas are floating around and support for a more protective state is emerging across the political spectrum. The current crisis might thus represent a turning point. So far it has not led to any political shocks. A crisis of this magnitude is unlikely to pass by without significant political consequences, though, particularly as it comes at the tail end of a decade of economic crisis in Europe that has not led to a fundamental shift in either the political or the economic regime. The global financial crisis of 2008–9 and the subsequent crisis in the eurozone had already led to demands for changes to the economic settlement. -

It is speculated that beer had been discovered accidentally, have been resulted of the fermentation non induced from any cereal. The beer produced in that époque was so different that we find today, because it was dark, strong and for long time it substitute the water, that was subjected to all the types of contamination. Although, the basis of the product, that is the malted barley, it was the same. Since that time the beverage was present in all the civilizations that succeed (Mosher, 2004). The beverage, in the form that today is concepted, appear in the Medium Age, and its culture was disseminated, in your majority, in monastery, being this productors in medium scale, and was them the pioneer in the commercial activities of the beverage. -

The disease triggered a combined negative supply and demand shock of unprecedented intensity and the EU entered unchartered territory. National and regional serial lockdowns were introduced in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 and avoid health systems becoming overwhelmed. In a show of solidarity commensurate with the unfolding economic emergency, EU member states agreed a financial stimulus package of some €1.8 trillion to rebuild the battered EU economy. The package comprised the EU’s budget, or Multi- annual Financial Framework (MFF), for the period 2021–7 plus a temporary novel recovery instrument, Next Generation EU (NGEU). Funds for NGEU are to be borrowed, exceptionally, by the European Commission on the international capital markets. This decision was a landmark departure for the EU. Developments in the institutions of the EU On 1 January Croatia began its presidency of the Council of the EU for six months. A member state since July 2013, this was the first time Croatia had presided over the Council. Its priorities were driven by an unwittingly prescient motto, ‘A strong Europe in a world of challenges’. REFUGEE HEALTHCARE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA: HEALTH STATUS AND BARRIERS FOR GORVERNMENT ASSSISED REFUGEES IN ACCESSING HEALTHCARE by SETAREH ROUHANI B.HSc., University of Ottawa, 2009 A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF SCIENCE in THE FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES (Health Care and Epidemiology) THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (Vancouver) October 2011 © Setareh Rouhani, 2011 Abstract Background: Government-Assisted Refugees (GARs) have greater health needs than other immigrants due to their pre-migration and Canadian resettlement experiences. There is a lack of detailed research into their health status and access to healthcare services. This thesis investigated factors associated with reported health, mental health problems, number of annual physician visits and difficulties obtaining healthcare from a sample of GARs. Methods: Secondary data analysis was conducted on data from a study of GARs in BC who attended the Bridge Refugee Clinic during the 26 month period from April 2005 to May 2007. Multivariate logistic regression was used to model the factors associated with excellent health, mental health problems, physician visits and difficulties obtaining healthcare. Results: There were 177 participants in the study. Excellent health was inversely associated with being female, having financial burden, having no English proficiency and having a diagnosed health condition. Factors associated with mental health problems were being female, west Asian, and having financial burden. Attending refugee clinics was inversely associated with reporting mental health problems. Factors associated with physician visits were unemployment, while not having English proficiency and no access to a regular doctor were inversely associated with the number of visits. -

GORDON INTRODUCTION MOST public health activities in the United States are funded by the public sector. The American political system guarantees that public resources will arrive by circuitous routes. This political system is federal (meaning that federal, state, and local agencies are involved); it is partisan (meaning, among other things, that different players will present different versions of the facts); and it involves many institutions (meaning that policy processes are usually slow and have many steps). In spite of its imperfections, government is an important source of revenue for many public health programs. In order to secure these public resources, public health practitioners must be adept at working within the political system. The recent Institute of Medicine (IOM) study, The Future of Public Health, however, found that many public health professionals are ignorant or disdainful of political processes. In fact, many public health professionals do not even participate in activities that they perceive as political. This lack of involvement has very serious consequences. The Future o f Public Health reported that one result is that many public policymakers do not consider appropriate technical advice when they are developing health policies (1). Democratic legitimacy in solidarity-responsibility arrangements can be achieved when they can deliver in terms of output legitimacy (being effective in economic terms), input legitimacy (ensuring sufficient room for domestic politics in deciding national policy trajectories) and throughput legitimacy (being run in a transparent and accountable manner).
