3 THE GROOVY GIRLS Heritage BPW mentors fifth grade students in the Danville City School System.

The girls went to a quilt exhibit with Mimi Beck- er. They did some quilt Isabelle squares with paper and Braelyn wanted to learn to quilt. We are now making a Kennadi Jenasha Fence Rail Square. They are such fun girls.

4 5 Heritage Business and Professional Women’s Club Minutes PBK Bank Danville, Kentucky Monday January 16, 2017

Members of Heritage BPW met Monday, January 16, 2017 at PBK Bank in Danville at 5:30 pm. Present were Mimi Becker, Peggy Orberson, Katie Terry, Rhonda Marshbanks, Martha Martin, Vickie Lay, Linda Shel- ley, Anne Sleet, Patsy McAfee, Brenda Baker, and Ann Upchurch. Anne Sleet led the members in the Pledge to the US flag and Vickie Lay led the Collect. Patsy McAfee did the invoca- tion before enjoying a meal prepared by Katie Terry and Brenda Baker.

Mimi Becker called the meeting to order and welcomed all members.

Treasurer Vickie Lay presented the financial reports for November and December. Deposits of $21.00 and no disburse- ments left a balance of $210.69 in checking for November. Savings balance is $1,342.23 for November. Deposits of $930.00 and disbursements of $1,050.00 for December left a balance of $90.69. Savings deposit of $170.00 and $0.10 interest left a balance of $1,512.33 for December.

Minutes: Peggy Orberson moved to accept September 19, 2016 minutes as printed. Rhonda Marshbanks seconded the motion. Motion carried. Anne Sleet moved to approve October 17, 2016 minutes as presented. Katie Terry seconded the motion. Motion carried. Emily Toadvine moved to approve minutes of October 19, 2016 as presented. Patsy McAfee seconded the motion. Motion carried. Ann Upchurch moved to accept the November 21, 2016 minutes as printed. Emily Toadvine seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Fundraiser: Vickie Lay will give pecan fundraiser update next month.

President Becker reported that we may hold an event with the Danville-Boyle County Chamber. Date of event may be February 21, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Mimi and Paula Fowler, Director of the Chamber, hope to have at the Pizza Pub, Main Street, Danville. We will invite women business owners and women management to the event. More infor- mation will be available at our next meeting in February.

Foundation Report: The Kentucky Federation of Business and Professional Women Foundation are working on the promise campaign. Locals will receive 10% of all business donations made to the promise campaign from their donors. The Foundation Board is working on letters and notes to go to local businesses. Peggy Orberson reported that hopefully this will be rolled out at State Conference in June. We collected $0.10 per text sent and received on January 16th by members present.

Mentoring: Heritage BPW mentoring to 5th grade girls is going great. We have up to 6-7 girls in the club. We meet with the girls on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Mimi Becker and Vickie Lay will go on January 24. February 14 – Brenda Baker and Mimi Becker will host the girls. Mimi has been working and talking with the girls about quilting and hopes to take them to see the quilt display at Constitution Square.
