WHAT TO EXPECT. DURATION:1 DAY This is an easy sea kayak trip in protected waters. You DEPARTS: Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 AM will cover about 10 km’s paddling along the coast of ENDS: Approximately 4 PM. beautiful Tai Tam Bay.
DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY: Starting from an old fishing village below the face of the EASY (10 km’s) impressive Tai Tam Reservoir, we will explore the inlets, beaches, waterfalls, temples and the war relics that line SKILL LEVEL: this serene (in a uniquely Hong Kong way) bay. This trip is suitable for beginners. Depending on the prevailing winds, we will also sneak FITNESS LEVEL: under the impressive but bizarre high rise buildings that sit precariously on the edge of the steep shores. You will not need to be moderately fit to complete this distance. There will be plenty of time to swim and explore. What to bring ... A swim suit, shorts, wet shoes that will get wet (old runners NOT flip flops). A sun shirt of some kind to wear under your buoyancy vest, a sun hat,sunscreen, and sun glasses (with a tie on strap to stop you losing them if you go for a swim).
Do not bring ... Valuables that you do not need as taking anything in a sea kayak means it can possibly get wet and ruined! We provide free photographs of the trip so taking a non- waterproof camera is NOT advised.
On the bus!!! After passing through the tunnel - MEETING PLACE - - how to get there. count the beaches. The first is “Deep Water Bay”.
We meet opposite the Stanley Police Station at The second is Repulse Bay Beach. After the Pacific Coffee at 10:00 AM. second beach, it is approx 8 stops to “Stanley Village Road” - the bus stop near the Stanley From Central: Police Station. As Central is on the north side of the island, and Stanley is on the south side, you must get past the mountainous interior of Hong Kong island.
There are a number of ways to do this, depending on your time and budget constraints.
Taxi: Approx HK$180 Catch a taxi from Central Pier outside Pier #7 or Pier #8, Star Ferry, there are always plenty there.
Tell the driver "Stanley Police Station", they will know it. Go via Aberdeen Tunnel for the fastest route, about 30 minutes. The driver may ask.
Public Bus: For the fastest route the bus number 260 is preferred, as this express service has the least stops Watch the illuminated sign at the front of the bus. between Central and Stanley, but the alternative Do Not get off at Stanley Plaza - it’s the next stop! routes including 6, 6A and 6X are very similar and a bit cheaper. Prices range from HK$7.90 – HK$10.60 Walk approx 100 meters from the bus stop, the one-way. same direction as the bus was travelling and you will see the Old Police Station across the road. They can all be caught at the main bus stop at the street level underneath Exchange Square - Central. SEE YOU THERE.
