Vehicle Intelligence Platform VIP – Features and Benefits The MST Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP) has undergone a number of improvements recently. This Product Brief aims to re-introduce the 4 functionalities of the VIP, its features and benefits, as well as the improvements, which include: Support for more vehicle diagnostics protocols, including J1939 Fast Wi-Fi roaming between access points to support autonomous mining applications Integration with Strata HazardAvert, and to provide Strata event logging and reporting New PC-based Diagnostics Tool for easier deployment of VIP protocol decoding Mobile Wi-Fi Bridge Features: Transparent Ethernet ↔ Wi-Fi bridge Supports high throughput and fast roaming on the wireless network Applications: Vehicle automation and autonomous mining, e.g. CAT Minestar Command system Wi-Fi network access for on-board devices, e.g. Micromine’s mobile Pitram touchscreen tablet Benefits: Allows vehicle OEMs or 3rd party integrators to deploy network-enabled mobile applications, including 2-way control, monitoring and data communications Protocol Decoder Features: Interfaces to various vehicle bus standards, e.g.: CAN bus SAE J1708 RS232 / RS485 Interprets messages from various vehicle communications protocols and standards – see overleaf. Converts decoded protocols to Ethernet via an open MST API, for access by in-vehicle network devices Applications: In-vehicle location, payload and diagnostics monitoring for e.g. dispatch or fleet management (i.e. Pitram Mobile with touchscreen tablet) Benefits: Conveniently accessible real-time data for in-vehicle business intelligence, to improve efficiency and production 13 July 2012 Product Bulletin – PB011 – Rel A For Global Application 1 www.minesite.net Vehicle Intelligence Platform Supported vehicle communications protocols and standards: Engine & Transmission Payload Location CAT EAM Modbus Master & Slave AeroScout Tag (Electronic Access Module) CAT VIMS (Vital Information Management Digital Inputs Strata HazardAvert System) CAT TPMS – Surface SAE J1939 (Truck Payload Management System) CAT TPMS – Underground SAE J1587 (Truck Payload Management System) Modbus Master & Slave Loadrite Digital Inputs Store and Forward Data Logger Features: Timestamped logging of Protocol Decoder data (above) to non-volatile memory Atomic uploading of logged data to the ICA database Applications: Vehicle location, payload and diagnostics monitoring for e.g.: Dispatch or fleet management (i.e. MineDash, Micromine Pitram, OSI Pi) Allows Predictive Maintenance (PdM) by either the vehicle OEM or vehicle owner/operator Benefits: Conveniently accessible and reliable data for vehicle business intelligence, e.g.: To improve stockpile management and increase production rates To improve maintenance scheduling and increase production efficiency Proximity Detection The VIP is the control unit for the MST Proximity Detection solution. Its functions in this solution are: Outer Zone Wi-Fi proximity tag reader and tag-bearer name lookup Strata Inner Zone state reader (optional) In-vehicle proximity event alerts display and alarm unit Machine tag self-check For more information please contact MST Product Engineering: Lourens Geldenhuys [email protected] +61 (0)423 160 627 13 July 2012 Product Bulletin – PB011 – Rel A For Global Application 2 www.minesite.net .
