Dear Editor,

We would be most grateful if you would announce the 18th International Freising Garden Fair in the diary or perhaps the notebook or events section of your magazine.

From the 9th to the 11th of May 2014 the Freising Garden Fair will welcome the world of gardening within the inspiring atmosphere unique to the courtyards of the former Cloister Freising-Neustift 30 miles north of Munich in Bavaria.

The Garden Fair which this year is dedicated to Spain with its great horticultural tradition and expertise will be opened on Friday the 9 th of May 2014 at 1.30 pm . Before the reception there will be a guided walk through the fair for invited guests which will start at 12.30. Many of our exhibitors have donated rare plants and new breeds for the plants tombola in support of the famous Gardens of Weihenstephan . Buying tickets is simply a must for passionate plant hunters.

As we welcome Spain at the Garden Fair this year, it is a pleasure for me to be able to offer a very special Lecture Programme and to welcome famous garden experts who will share their unique knowledge and experience with our guests. From Girona Martí Franch Batllori , the famous and award winning Catalan Landscape Architect will come and introduce some of his latest designs such as the restoration of Tudela-Culip Site (Club Med) in Cap de Creus Natural Park on Friday afternoon. The well-known author and journalist Sabine Wesemann will on Saturday open the doors into The Secret Gardens of Mallorca . Her book, Die geheimen Gärten von Mallorca (DVA 2013), has become another bestseller in the successful series of the secret gardens books. On Sunday as a special highlight we are proud to present the charismatic Fernando Caruncho Targa from , who will introduce his fabulous gardens and landscapes as well as his unique and philosophical approach to garden design.

The International Freising Garden Fair has become an institution in the Gardening World – a place to meet experts, friends and colleagues. By now, more than 170,000 people have visited the fair, enthralled by the atmosphere and the opportunity to buy plants. We have set a trend – there are new Garden Fairs all over Germany now. And I am very pleased that we have found an instrument to spread Garden Culture as well as Garden Design in Germany.

The emphasis of the Garden Fair is on Special Plants for the Garden , which makes Freising unique and different from other fairs. From a wide range of interested applicants, we have carefully chosen over 125 exhibitors . More than 60 of the best nurseries from Austria, Belgium, , Holland, , the Czech Republic and Germany will show a wide range of rare and special plants. Therefore, we not only guarantee displays of the highest standards and quality but can also offer advice from specialists who go out of their way to be helpful and informative.
