KEW GARDENS

The beautiful Red and Fallow deer roam freely within this park which allows you to truly feel like you have escaped the city with its vast expanse of green open spaces, woodland trails, nature and wildlife. Home to the Pen Ponds, the - a 40 acre woodland area tucked away in the middle of the park - and Pembroke Lodge, there is plenty to see and do here.

Sheen Gate is the closest access gate to Richmond Park from Devonhurst Place which can be reached in just over 20 minutes by bike (~3.7 mile). You can access Richmond Park for free and either explore on foot, or certain areas are open to cyclists too. WEST LONDON’S WONDERFUL GREEN SPACES

SYON PARK

Next to Richmond Park is which has been owned by the same family for 400 years and is steeped in history. While the house is currently closed you can still purchase tickets for the gardens at a discounted winter lockdown rate. The gardens boast an Arboretum, lakes and many ancient trees. The entrance to Syon Park can be reached in just 17 minutes by bike (~3.3 miles) from Devonhurst Place.

CHISWICK HOUSE & GARDENS One of the most local open spaces to Devonhurst Place is & GARDENS. The house was built in the 18th century and was designed in a Roman Villa-style by the third Earl of Burlington, who was inspired by his grand tours of Italy. While the house is impressive the real draw is the 65 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which are award winning. Enjoy classical vistas to ponds, fountains and an 18th century wilderness. The gatehouse to the gardens can be reached on foot in just 10 minutes (~0.5 miles) from Devonhurst Place. While the house is currently closed, the gardens remain open and can be accessed for free.

GUNNERSBURY PARK

Another extremely local option is PARK. Situated on the site of a former estate, this 70-hectare park has been open to the public since 1926. The park is full of historic buildings of national significance and complete with two lakes, it is an excellent place to spend the day exploring. Access to the park is free and via Popes Lane which can be reached in under half an hour on foot (~1.4 miles) or in just 7 minutes by bike. WEST LONDON’S WONDERFUL GREEN SPACES

A little further west from is the hidden PARK gem . These gardens are beautifully kept and offer not only greenery but also a pond teeming with wildlife. Boston Manor Park is a Conservation Area and is also a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The park is a significant part of the former estate and grounds of Boston Manor House and has a number of surviving historic features, including the estate lake and veteran planted trees. It also has a stretch of the 1790s flowing alongside and part of the flowing through. It has rich and varied habitats for wildlife and is an important green corridor. An orienteering course and nature trail has been devised by the park’s volunteer supporters, which makes for a great wander while enjoying the wildlife in all its glory. RAVENSCOURT PARK

RAVENSCOURT PARK is another excellent option that is just over a mile from Devonhurst Place so a 22 minute walk or 7 minute cycle. Located in the neighbouring borough of Hammersmith and Fulham it is less of a traditional park and more of a secret garden, a lovely green space with its own walled area and pretty lake known for its wildlife habitats.

OSTERLEY HOUSE & PARK

OSTERLEY HOUSE & PARK are also a superb spot that can be reached in under 25 minutes by bike (~4.5 miles) from Devonhurst Place and has links to the cycle network. A Georgian country estate in West London and run by the National Trust, there is a natural play area ideal for children and plenty of free space to roam. The parkland remains open for pedestrian access without pre-booking but if you wish to visit the gardens you would need to book a ticket in advance.
