TEMPLE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

3701 NORTH BROAD STREET PHILADELPHIA, PA 19107 (215)707-4990 PHONE (215) 707-3678 FAX We showcase in this book everyday people who have undergone tremendous efforts to becoming the future pharmacists of America, an cE^treme < Ma^eover/ that's what we call it!

Thousands apply every year, applicants from across the United States and around the world, to emerge themselves into the challenging world of healthcare, to be the sources of health information, and providing services that will help improve the quality of life of those in our commu nity The Class of 2006 was com prised of a diverse group of students from all over the world. Beautiful faces, talented individuals, all sat side by side and completed a long, yet worthwhile jour ney together. Many have said //rThe Class of 2006 was one of the smartest group of students Temple's ever known!" Well, we have whittled down close to half a decade of fun to only a few pages. Seemed hardly enough to sum up four years of pharmacy school, but we did it with (Expreme 'Makeover.

So, cherish these moments. The memories will remain with you a lifetime! Graduates, Class of 2006 Paris T. Abrams Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Israel O. Adenaike Olabisi Janet Adeyemi Lena Ang Sonia Chung-Yee Thanks to an unusual revelation 6 years ago, I arrived at the decision to do something worthwhile with my life. I chose pharmacy, gave it my best shot and have finished something I never thought I was capable of accomplishing. To my husband, Hugh, who rooted for me since day one, knew I could do it, pushed me harder than anyone ever did, criticized me, loved me, and sup ported me through it all. Thank you so much for helping me begin a path for which I have such passion. Also, many thanks to my family who have always supported me in all that Tve done. And to the Class of 2006, Best of luck and a prosperous future to you all! [email protected] Jennifer K. Phu V. Duong Yeah! Congratulations to me! Oh, and congrats to all of you too. How can one sum up four years of memories, friendship, and pharmacy knowledge into a single paragraph? One really can't, so here's my favorite quote instead: "Life is short, so have a beer or two - kick back, relax, and take it one day at a time/' Everyone wants to thank their family and friends for helping them get this far - personally, I think instead of thanking them - we should buy them something with our pharmacist's salary. $$$ Wouldn't that be better? pharmerphu@y ahoo. com

Temple's curriculum set the stan dard of education that is admired and emulated by other schools of pharmacy. Unlike others known to jam P&T into two se mesters of school, Temple exer cises a "building block" tech nique. Students retain more in formation, complementing old skills, and the result, a more well- rounded learning experience and better trained pharmacists. Dr. Thompson, now retired, taught one of Temple's most intimidat ing lectures, Anatomy & Physi ology. When it came down to learning the human brain, what better way than to grab it by the hands and digging into it!

Students were required to have 750 hours of retail experience in order to satisfy the practical and pharmaceu tical skills of being a profes sional. Students like Jenny Cheung and Chris O'Neill worked part time for Rite Aid Pharmacy in order to satisfy this requirement in addition to acquiring retail experience that will help their practice once they graduate. Jenny carefully checked the label for proper dosing, whereas Chris ensured that the right medication got dispensed. Making the grade

Some of us spent hours studying relentlessly in the library with one goal in mind; that is, to pass! When asked of Khiem what he'd be doing with his degree once he graduates: "I sign up with Rite Aid to get more retail experience. I only work for Temple Hospital before," Khiem said. Where we will wind up may not necessarily be what we once had in mind. However, one thing's for sure, we will all be pharmacists very soon with the same important task to complete.

Phi Lambda Sigma, "The Leadership Society" was an organization that combined the best leaders of every organization at Temple University School of Pharmacy. These students deserve special recognition for all the hard work they have done behind the scenes. They assisted Eileen Lichtenstein in planning student activities, conducted community services such as toy drives, food and blood drives, and organized talks such as the Kallelis-Lynch Lecture, which have broadened our classroom experience. True leadership is represented among these faces, so we are giving thanks to each of them who have put tremendous effort in making the Class of CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2006!

This project was a tremendous challenge A Note from the for my staff and me. When we signed up for the job, we had a vision of pro ducing a great yearbook with only Editor goal in mind: in hopes that our fellow' students will cherish the incredible experi ences reveled at pharmacy school; to embrace these experi ences and being able to share them one day with their children, grandchildren, or mothers, fathers, sisters, anc brothers. As wreeks became months, deadlines frequented our schedules among all the other responsibilities of school. Nonetheless, with much hard work and dedication, what seemed like mission-impossible became one of my most rewarding endeavors. I hope that you have enjoyed this book as much as I have had the joy of working on it. It truly a pleasure to have cooperated wdth Jostens' Bill Straub, as well as members of the Yearbook staff, in particular, Phu Duong, Victor Egbulefu, and Basil Hamed. As we end this chapter of our lives together, a new and exciting one awaits all of us. Good luck Class of 2006 and take care! ___-—__-__-____ Sincerely, Sonia Chung-Yee TUSP Class of 2006 Paris J.
