Na hrách v Pekingu – Qingdau jsme měli tři želízka v ohni s nelehkým úkolem navázat na mimořádný úspěch z OH 2004, kde český jachting získal svou první olympijskou medaili. Zázemí pro naše reprezentanty se podařilo poprvé v historii připravit srovnatelné s nejvyspělejšími jachtařskými zeměmi. Každá posádka měla na vodě svého trenéra s vlastním člunem a na břehu byl vlastní plně klimatizovaný prostorný kontejner. K realizačnímu týmu v Číně patřili i fyzioterapeut a expert na sofistikovanou „on-line“ predikci mořských proudů. Vynikajícího výsledku dosáhla svým 7. místem posádka 470-ky Lenka Šmídová a Lenka Mrzílková. Vzorně nás na hrách reprezentovali i Michael Maier ve třídě Finn a Martin Trčka ve třídě Laser, i když konečné umístění obou závodníků zůstalo za jejich očekáváním. Vynikajících mezinárodních výsledků však dosahovali i závodníci ostatních lodních tříd počínaje optimisty a konče námořními loděmi Bohemia Express či Three Sisters. V listopadu 2008 byly na zasedání ISAF vybrány lodní třídy pro Olympijské hry 2012. Z her vypadlo Tornado, Ynglinga nahradí match racing na Elliotu 6. Těsně uhájila své pozice 470-ka pro ženy, kde jen o pár hlasů méně získal 29er. Trend ke skifům se v našem sportu silně projevuje a bude nutné se mu postupně přizpůsobovat. Existence našeho sportu je nemyslitelná bez erudované, dobrovolné činnosti organizátorů závodů, rozhodčích, záchranářů, ALT, klubů a dalších součástí jachtingu. Díky obětavosti těchto lidí proběhla celá sezóna 2008 velmi úspěšně. Uspořádáno bylo opět velké množství regat počínaje závody klubového významu, často i veřejně přístupnými, přes velké mezinárodní regaty pořádané u nás, až po regaty námořních lodí pořádaných českými pořadateli v Chorvatsku. Za toto obrovské množství dobrovolné práce bych rád všem alespoň touto cestou poděkoval. Přeji všem příznivcům jachtingu úspěšnou sezónu 2009 a mnoho radosti a krásných zážitků z vody a větru. Zlatý a stříbrný Čestný odznak ČSJ se uděluje: - Při příležitosti životního jubilea za významný přínos pro rozvoj jachtingu - Vynikajícím funkcionářům (např. rozhodčím, trenérům, bývalým pracovníkům jachtingu) za aktivní a dlouhodobou práci pro rozvoj jachtingu v ČR - Bývalým vynikajícím aktivním sportovcům za dobrou reprezentaci České republiky Čestný odznak uděluje VV ČSJ při příležitosti konání konference ČSJ nebo při jiné vhodné slavnostní příležitosti, jubilantům i při příležitosti jejich narozenin.     THE INTERNATIONAL FLYING DUTCHMAN CLASS BOOK www.sailfd.org 1 2 Preface and acknowledgements for the “FLYING DUTCHMAN CLASS BOOK” by Alberto Barenghi, IFDCO President The Class Book is a basic and elegant instrument to show and testify the FD history, the Class life and all the people who have contributed to the development and the promotion of the “ultimate sailing dinghy”. Its contents show the development, charm and beauty of FD sailing; with a review of events, trophies, results and the role past champions . Included are the IFDCO Foundation Rules and its byelaws which describe how the structure of the Class operate . Moreover, 2002 was the 50th Anniversary of the FD birth: 50 years of technical deve- lopment, success and fame all over the world and of Class life is a particular event. This new edition of the Class Book is a good chance to celebrate the jubilee, to represent the FD evolution and the future prospects in the third millennium. The Class Book intends to charm and induce us to know and to be involved in the Class life. Please, let me assent to remember and to express my admiration for Conrad Gulcher: if we sail, love FD and enjoyed for more than 50 years, it is because Conrad conceived such a wonderful dinghy and realized his dream, launching FD in 1952. Conrad, looked to the future with an excellent far-sightedness, conceived a “high-perfor- mance dinghy”, which still represents a model of technologic development, fashionable 3 water-line, low minimum hull weight and performance . Conrad ‘s approach to a continuing development of FD, with regard to materials, fitting and rigging evolution, was basic for the FD success.

It is always hard to find volunteers for this time con- suming position, and Tom tackled the task with enthusiasm and dedication. Sailing Master and 2 Optis My recollections of GBC yachting stretch back to the late 1950s and early 1960s, when Dirty Dog and Web 3 as a youngster I remember watching my father and older brothers sail at the club. Many of these classes no longer exist in racing fleets, and many Arrows 5 current members live further than walking distance from the club, but what remains is the ethos from the old days. It is remarkable that this same spirit lives on almost sixty Boards and Build- 8 years after the club was founded.

Water depth is 10 m. Rizhao, meaning “the sun shines”, got its name in year 1087, a beautiful oriental coastal city with civilisation dating back 5000 years with its blue sky, jade sea and 60 km golden sand beaches looks forward to welcoming with open arms and warm heart and hospitality the Europe Class sailing family from all around the world to the opening up China. Some amazing feats were achieved on the water, whilst on shore the sport continues to develop both structurally and commercially through the contribution of worldwide stakeholders and ISAF. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was not just the sporting highlight of the year, but one of the defining moments of the new millennium.

Congratulations to the 2016 YW 420 Teams, Girls (Courtney & Brianna Reynolds-Smith) 8th and Boys (Josh Berry/Henry Haslett) 13th. As with many regattas, conditions were not as expected. The observed breadth of fleet quality from 25 countries re-emphasized the necessity race with consistency in all races and have an ability to adapt to all conditions. World Sailing announced 21 Jan '17 that the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships will be held during December '17 and that it has received bids from three Member National Authorities aiming to host the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships. Bids have been received from the following host cities: Mar del Plata, Argentina Melbourne, Australia Sanya, China As a result of this decision, YNZ announced on 24 Jan 2017 the current selection regulation for the 2017 NZL Yachting Trust Youth Team is void. Yachting New Zealand will release a new Selection Regulation after World Sailing has officially announced the dates and venue of the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships.
