2020 ILYA Dues Volume 15, Issue 30---------- June 11, 2020 Dear ILYA Members and Enthusiasts, I want to update you on the status of ILYA regattas for the summer of 2020. As you know this process has been time consuming and arduous, yet has had some heartwarming moments. The host clubs who worked so hard to get their bids approved were asked last week to make a final decision, with their Board of Directors, on whether they could host their awarded ILYA regatta. Their decision processes were painstakingly thorough. It was exceedingly difficult for many to give up on a plan that they have been implementing for better than two years. However, if the regatta is not in the best interest of the club or the community, it should not happen. Please know that RCC and the ILYA Board will not forget the commitment you made to this process. For those clubs that had to say “No” your efforts will not be in vain and we are eager to get you back in the regatta rotation. This is what we know so far: E Invite at White Bear will not be held at White Bear C Invite at Pewaukee will be determined next week MC Invite at Okauchee will happen with restrictions upon RCC and Board approval X Champs at Geneva will not be held at Geneva ILYA Champs at Okoboji will not be held at Okoboji IOD East at North Lake will not be held at North Lake IOD Champs at Beulah will be determined next week While events may not happen at the original sites, an exploratory group of RCC members and fleet captains are analyzing and exploring other lake opportunities. -

This event was one of the most difficult events that we Check out our Support Wall !! have competed in together for some time. The conditions proved extremely challenging with the majority of the races being run in between 25-35 knots. In such a contrast to the last world cup where we sailed the majority of the races in light wind conditions, it was nice to have the same performance in the other end of the wind scale. Most of you would have seen that on day one we broke our rig, while Click to like our fan page... leading and only the final reach remaining. We managed to finish this race in 24 but it was a disappointing start to the regatta for us. At the London Challenge 2012 Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page are members of the same time, we are pleased to have had this experience along with both Australian Sailing Team and are personally Victor and Malcolm nursing colds throughout as part of our supported by: Olympic preparations. No matter how much you want things to go your way sometimes things are just out of your control. -

We are heading on a course to offer greater support for our members and our sport. We take this very seriously, knowing whatever value we create is magnified several times over by US SAILING’s numerous dedicated volunteers. US SAILING ended Fiscal Year 2007 with strong financial results: an operating surplus, record giving to our Annual Appeal, and no debt. After three years of steadily improving financial results, we can now focus with a greater emphasis on the future of our sport. US SAILING’s number of certifications issued for instructors, race officials, and offshore boat ratings continues to grow. Participation in US SAILING’s 18 Championships and over 20 Junior Olympic programs is at record levels. This winter, you will receive US SAILING’s 2009-2012 Rule Book which ensures a level playing field throughout our sport in the U.S. Due to the success of our 2007 Annual Appeal, over sixty $250-$500 “Sailorships” will be awarded to youth sailors in 2008 to provide financial assistance to attend US SAILING Championships. -
