Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to all students who attended and participated in our Annual Swimming Carnival, which was held at the Lismore Memorial Baths on Thursday February 15.

I am sure I speak for all Staff when I say how impressed I was with the enthusiasm, participation and cooperation of so many students throughout the day.

CONGRATULATIONS to BRADMAN HOUSE for winning the Carnival holding off a fast finishing FRASER house in Second place. They were closely followed by Newcombe (3rd) and then Cuthbert house in 4th.

CONGRATULATIONS also go to the Jennifer Hamshaw who broke the 14 year girls Breast stroke record in a time of 40.35 seconds:

Age Boys Girls 12 Tilly S 13 Jack J Chloe B 14 Billie W Carly H 15 Ben G Sinovai R 16 Tom B / Spencer S Amellia Jones W 17 + John R Olivia G

Many thanks to the following staff who are our House Patrons for 2018:

Bradman Mr Kirkland Fraser Mr Sassi Cuthbert Mr Condon/Mr Wiblen Newcombe Mr Wallace

Our House Patrons are supported by a wonderful group of Sporting House Captains and Vice Captains and I would also like to acknowledge their efforts in motivating our students at the carnival. I look forward to working with you at our upcoming sporting events.

I would also like to give a special thank you to our enthusiastic Teachers, for their efforts in making this day a success. Thank you.

Well done Year 12 for your spirited participation on the day. This was clearly evident all day and in the Staff vs. Year 12 Relay; however youthful exuberance was no match for the talent and experience of both of the Staff teams that blew the students out of the water.

Finally, good luck to all swimmers who will be representing our school at the Zone Swimming Carnival at Lismore on Monday February 26.

Thanks,

Mr Dalli – Carnival Organiser

Jayden Cox - Maths Teacher Student Representative Council (SRC)

Friday February 16th was our Student Representative Council (SRC) Induction Ceremony. Our SRC is a group of students elected by their fellow peers to represent all students in our campus. The students are actively involved in opportunities to organise ways for students to participate in campus life. The SRC works democratically to represent the student body in school decision-making. Our students work together, with support and guidance from Ms Clifford, to improve school life and to contribute students' ideas. After the assembly the newly elected students spent time brainstorming how they would like to contribute to the campus in coming months.

Special guest speaker was Associate Professor Adele Wessell. Ms Wessell works for Southern Cross University, where she is the Bachelor of Arts Course Coordinator in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, and Associate Professor in History. Her research is in the field of food history and she is one of the convenors of the Regional Food Network and co-editor of Locale: Pacific Journal of Regional Food Studies. ONSTAGE Exursion Sydney

Students will be required to create a personal portfolio consisting of samples of their learning.
