"Don't Panic" I swam across, I never meant to cause you trouble, --------------------------------------------------- I jumped across for you, And I never meant to do you wrong, "The Scientist" Bones, sinking like stones, Oh what a thing to do. And I, well, if I ever caused you trouble, All that we fought for, 'Cause you were all yellow, Oh, no, I never meant to do you harm. Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry Homes, places we've grown, You don't know how lovely you are All of us are done for. I drew a line, They spun a web for me, And we live in a beautiful world, I drew a line for you, They spun a web for me, I had to find you Yeah we do, yeah we do, Oh what a thing to do, They spun a web for me. Tell you I need you We live in a beautiful world, And it was all yellow. Tell you I set you apart ---------------------------------------------------------- Bones, sinking like stones, Your skin, "In My Place" Tell me your secrets All that we fought for, Oh yeah your skin and bones, And ask me your questions And homes, places we've grown, Turn into In my place, in my place Oh, let's go back to the start All of us are done for. Something beautiful, Were lines that I couldn't change And we live in a beautiful world, Do you know, I was lost, oh yeah Running in circles Yeah we do, yeah we do, For you I'd bleed myself dry, Coming up tails We live in a beautiful world. For you I'd bleed myself dry. I was lost, I was lost Heads on a science apart Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed Here we go, It's true, I was lost, oh yeah Nobody said it was easy Here we go. Look how they shine for you, It's such a shame for us to part Look how they shine for you, Yeah, how long must you wait for it? Nobody said it was easy And we live in a beautiful world, Look how they shine for, Yeah, how long must you pay for it? No one ever said it would be this hard Yeah we do, yeah we do, Look how they shine for you, Yeah, how long must you wait for it, oh, for it? We live in a beautiful world. Look how they shine for you, Oh, take me back to the start Look how they shine. I was scared, I was scared Oh, all that I know, Tired and under-prepared I was just guessing There's nothing here to run from, Look at the stars, But I'll wait for it At numbers and figures Cos yeah, everybody here's got somebody to Look how they shine for you, Pulling the puzzles apart lean on And all the things that you do. If you go, if you go Leave me down here on my own Questions of science ------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Then I'll wait for you, yeah. Science and progress "Yellow" "Trouble" Do not speak as loud as my heart Yeah, how long must you wait for it? Look at the stars, Oh, no, I see Yeah, how long must you pay for it? Tell me you love me Look how they shine for you, A spider web, it's tangled up with me, Yeah, how long must you wait for it, oh, for it? Come back and haunt me And everything you do, And I lost my head, Oh, and I rush to the start Yeah, they were all yellow. The thought of all the stupid things I'd said, Singing Please, please, please Running in circles I came along, Oh, no, what's this? Come back and sing to me Chasing our tails I wrote a song for you, A spider web, and I'm caught in the middle, To me, to me Coming back as we are And all the things you do, So I turned to run, And it was called "Yellow". The thought of all the stupid things I've done, Come on and sing it out, now, now Nobody said it was easy Come on and sing it out to me, me Oh, it's such a shame for us to part So then I took my turn, And I never meant to cause you trouble, Come back and sing it Nobody said it was easy Oh what a thing to have done, And I never meant to do you wrong, No one ever said it would be so hard And it was all yellow. And I, well, if I ever caused you trouble, In my place, in my place Oh no, I never meant to do you harm. Were lines that I couldn't change I'm going back to the start Your skin, And I was lost, oh yeah Oh yeah your skin and bones, Oh, no, I see Oh yeah Oh [x4] Turn into A spider web, and it's me in the middle, Something beautiful, So I twist and turn, Do you know, Here am I in my little bubble, You know I love you so, Singing out... You know I love you so. ------------------------------------------ Lights will guide you home Ohhh and I'm... ------------------------------------------------- "Clocks" And ignite your bones Just waiting 'til the shine wears off "Viva La Vida" And I will try to fix you The lights go out and I can't be saved [Guitar solo] I used to rule the world Tides that I tried to swim against And high up above or down below Seas would rise when I gave the word Have brought me down upon my knees When you're too in love to let it go Ohhh and I'm... Now in the morning I sleep alone Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing But if you never try you'll never know Just waiting 'til the shine wears off Sweep the streets I used to own Just what you're worth Ohhh and I'm... Come out of things unsaid Just waiting 'til the shine wears off I used to roll the dice Shoot an apple off my head and a Lights will guide you home Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Trouble that can't be named And ignite your bones ------------------------------------------ Listened as the crowd would sing A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing And I will try to fix you "Strawberry Swing" Now the old king is dead long live the king One minute I held the key You are Tears stream down your face They were sitting Next the walls were closed on me You are When you lose something you cannot replace They were sitting on the strawberry swing And I discovered that my castles stand Tears stream down your face and I Every moment was so precious Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand Confusion never stops Tears stream down your face Closing walls and ticking clocks I promise you I will learn from my mistakes They were sitting I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing Gonna come back and take you home Tears stream down your face and I They were talking under strawberry swing Roman cavalry choirs are singing I could not stop that you now know, singing Everybody was for fighting Be my mirror, my sword and shield Lights will guide you home Wouldn't wanna waste a thing My missionaries in a foreign field Come out upon my seas And ignite your bones For some reason I can't explain Cursed missed opportunities And I will try to fix you Cold, cold water bring me round Once you'd gone there was never Am I a part of the cure? Now my feet won't touch the ground Never an honest word Or am I part of the disease? Singing ----------------------------------------------------------- Cold, cold water what ya say? And that was when I ruled the world "Lost!" When it's such… You are, you are, you are It's such a perfect day It was a wicked and wild wind You are, you are, you are Just because I'm losing It's such a perfect day Blew down the doors to let me in Doesn't mean I'm lost Shattered windows and the sound of drums And nothing else compares Doesn't mean I'll stop I remember People couldn't believe what I'd become Oh nothing else compares Doesn't mean I would cross We were walking up to strawberry swing Revolutionaries wait And nothing else compares I can't wait until the morning For my head on a silver plate Just because I'm hurting Wouldn't wanna change a thing Just a puppet on a lonely string You are Doesn't mean I'm hurt Oh who would ever want to be king? You are Doesn't mean I didn't get People moving all the time What I deserved Inside a perfectly straight line I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing Home, home where I wanted to go No better and no worse Don't you wanna curve away? Roman cavalry choirs are singing Home, home where I wanted to go When it's such… Be my mirror, my sword and shield Home, home where I wanted to go I just got lost It's such a perfect day My missionaries in a foreign field Home, home where I wanted to go Every river that I tried to cross It's such a perfect day For some reason I can't explain Every door I ever tried was locked I know St Peter won't call my name -------------------------------------------------- Ohhh and I'm..

  • Band's Former Manager and Creative Consultant, De- "We Were Just 'Watch and See,' " He Says
"When we put the last record out, iTunes were prob- ably the fifth or sixth account," he says. "To come back on this record and have them be the No. 1 account in America, that's probably one of the biggest, most sig- nificant differences." At iTunes, digital album pre- orders began May 6, when "Violet Hill" became available as a download, with consumers able to secure a bonus track to be de- livered with it on album release day. The street date version of the album via iTunes will have a different exclusive bonus track, plus an exclusive music video. Holmes also cites the growth of YouTube as a new factor. "So that's a part of your marketing plan now, which it wouldn't have been three -and -a -half years ago. I was cleaning my desk out recently and found an old MySpace marketing plan when they'd come to us on the last record, [when] they had about 400,000 members. We did a big promotion with them, but it's funny looking back that that was a new platform, and social networking in general was not part of your mar- keting plan. Now it's a major part." But the Coldplay manager regards the retail arena as no less vital. "It's just as important to me. People still buy CDs, and Coldplay are one of those artists where a lot of the fans want to own the CD, they want We all had our corner office in a big tower block, but the whole package." there was no vibe.

Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.
