DAY 1 (Monday 27 December) LA PAZ – CURAHUARA DE CARANGAS (193km 03h 09m) – SAJAMA NATIONAL PARK(83km 01h 05m) Early in the morning we will meet at the agreed meeting point for the distribution of vehicles and organization of the caravan that will accompany us on this expedition through Bolivia. EUROLATINO Tour operators [email protected] DAY 2 (Tuesday 28 December) SAJAMA – COQUEZA (417 km 7h 10m) Breakfast in Sajama and departure with our vehicles in a southerly direction. Traditionally they lived in mud huts in a unique circular shape (huayllichas) or conical (putucus), with doors made of cactus wood and always facing east. We will continue our journey and see the Salar de Coipasa with very interesting landscapes until we reach Coqueza, a small community located at the foot of Thunupa Volcano where our next hotel is located. Hotel Tambo Coquesa Lodge is built with salt blocks on the foundations of an ancient Tambo, an Indian refuge for traders crossing the region. After check-in, brief rest in the rooms, then visit the Chantani Mummies Museum and the stone shapes. At the end of the afternoon, we find the ideal place to watch the sunset, accompanied by a coca cocktail as a welcome drink. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation. (B) (L) (D) DAY 3 (Wednesday, December 29) COQUEZA –UYUNI SALTFLATS – EDUARDO AVAROA NATIONAL PARK (341km 7h 56m) After breakfast at 8:00 am, we leave the hotel in a southerly direction to explore the Uyuni Saltflats with paradisiacal landscapes, the largest continuous and highest salt desert in the world, with an area of 10,582 km2 and the largest lithium reserve in the world with 50-70% of the world's lithium. It also counts with significant amounts of potassium, boron and magnesium. Considered the largest mirror in the world in rainy season, to its large size, to the high percentage of smooth surface and its high reflectivity, the Salar is used for satellite calibration. During the visit we will take a short break for lunch. Then we will visit the Incahuasi Island which is completely surrounded by the huge salt surface of the Salar- Its relief is steep. It contains a large number of giant cacti (Echinopsis atacamensis), which can reach more than 10 meters in height. Subsequently, we continue our journey to the municipality of San Juan, natural view of the Ollague volcano (active), with visit of the "comunarios" (locals), then to Laguna Cañapa and finally Laguna Hedionda. Departure before sunrise to Eduardo Avaroa Reserve National Park with visit to Laguna Honda, Charcota, Siloli Desert, Stone Tree, Colored Lagoon with geysers and hot springs, Dalí Desert and Laguna Verde. On the way back to the city of Uyuni we will visit the Valley of the Rocks, and authentic villages such as Villa Alota, Culpina K and the mining village of San Cristobal with its church. Arriving in Colchani, we will check into the Hotel Palacio de Sal, built fully with salt blocks of the region, which make it an exotic hotel since even the furniture is built of salt blocks.
