METHOD PAGE

Mapping of environmental technology companies in the Gothenburg region carried out by Hifab on behalf of Business Region Göteborg.

The Energy Industry 2007-2014 study, Companies in the Energy Industry 2007-2011 study (both conducted by Vinnova), and the Companies in the Environmental Technology Sector 2007-2011 study carried out by IVL, Sustainable Business Hub in Malmö and the consultancy companies Addendi and Okatima in collaboration with VINNOVA, formed the basis of the mapping.

The SNI codes used resulted in the inclusion of several installation companies with a sole focus on plumbing. These companies have been removed from the mapping.

Companies have also been added manually if they operate within the energy industry but have not been categorised according to the SNI codes we utilised.

To establish the selection of companies, companies that did not have five or more employees in one of the years studied (2008, 2012, 2016) have been omitted. The reason being is that very small companies often do not have websites, which makes it difficult to determine the orientation of operations.

The companies in the study are based on the companies’ establishments in the Gothenburg region. Other figures, such as turnover, are region specific (if 50% of the employees work in the region, then 50% of the turnover was included).

In this report we also refer to other mapping carried out which does not include the same selection of companies as selected in our own mapping. The following SNI codes have been included:

Industry: 28130, 28140, 28150, 28210 Energy: 35110, 35130, 35140, 35210, 35220, 35300, 36001, 36002 Technical consultants: 71123, 71124
