The first Malaysia-Ukraine Bilateral Consultation was FIRST convened on 29 October 2019 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The MALAYSIA - delegation from Ukraine was led by H.E. Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine while the UKRAINE Malaysian side was led by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Muhammad Shahrul BILATERAL Ikram Yaakob, Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs CONSULTATION Malaysia. Both countries had the opportunity to take stock of their bilateral ties and agreed to further strengthen cooperation.

During the visit to Malaysia, H.E. Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya, made courtesy calls on YB Datuk Wira Marzuki Yahya Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and YB Hannah Yeoh , Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and visited the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre in Port Dickson and Bernama’s headquarters.

HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO

H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah joined ambassadors and diplomats from 17 other countries in the biggest ever United Nations (UN) humanitarian mission to the regions of and , eastern of Ukraine on 5-7 November 2019.

The special mission was led by Ms. Osnat Lubrani, UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine.

The mission among others met with the local community affected by the conflict in Stanytsia and Luhanska, visited Maiorske’s crossing checkpoint and held talks with the Governor of the Luhansk.

The diplomats were able to learn and see first-hand the real situation on the ground from this special visit.

ENGAGEMENTS AEROSPACE COOPERATION

On 5 August 2019, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah led the Malaysian side comprising of officials from the Malaysian Embassy in Kyiv and senior officials of Tijan Galaxy Aerospace Consortium (TGAC) Malaysia to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Devel- opment and Trade of Ukraine, Yuzhmash, Kyiv Radio Plant, Space Initiatives Center, the State Space Agency of Ukraine and Space Parliamentary Group of (Ukraine’s Parlia- ment).

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Mr. Yuriy Brovchenko, Deputy Minister of the Eco- nomic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

Both sides exchanged views and explored possible co-operation in the field of aerospace technology.

Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah on 28 November 2019 INTER- met with the newly established People’s Deputy (Members of PARLIAMENTARY Parliament) Group of Ukraine for Inter-Parliamentary Relations RELATIONS with Malaysia. GROUP The group is comprised of six members and co-chaired by Mr. Vadym Halaichuk and Ms. Ivanna Klympush –Tsyntsadze, for- mer Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

The group has indicated its readiness to cooperate with Ma- laysian Parliamentarians to address issues of mutual concern to both countries including in the spheres of political, econo- my and people to people contact.

MEETING WITH KYIV CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY

On 14 August 2019, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah met with officials of the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kyiv. During the meeting, President of the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Mykola V. Zasulskyi and his deputy, Mr. Volodymyr Koliadenko, expressed satisfaction on the Ukrainian and Malaysian business cooperation that has been on-going for the past ten years facilitated by MATRADE.

H.E. Ambassador shared his views on possible joint business projects that would be mutually beneficial to both Malaysia and Ukraine in the near future, with the Chamber’s assistance and support.

MEETING WITH UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah met with representatives from Ukraine International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at the Embassy of Malaysia on 31 October 2019.

During the discussion they covered a wide range of topics including ICC Ukraine’s pilot projects, the work undertaken by its Anti- Corruption Bureau and opportunities in medical tourism in Ukraine.

Both parties exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation between the Embassy of Malaysia and ICC Ukraine in organising joint trade and investment seminars.

VISIT TO UKRAINIAN DEFENCE INDUSTRY ()

H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine accompanied by several officials from the Malaysian private sector made a visit to the office of Ukroboronprom in Kyiv on 22 November 2019.

The Malaysian delegation was briefed about the background and operations of Ukroboronprom by Mr. Vadym Kozhevnikov, Deputy Director General of Ukrspecexport (subsidiary of Ukroboronprom).

Both sides exchanged views and explored opportunities for future cooperation.

VISIT TO ANTONOV

On 4 December 2019 H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah made an official visit to Antonov, Ukraine’s leading aircraft manufacturing and services company.

H.E. Ambassador was received upon arrival by Mr. Oleksandr Donets, President of Antonov who later gave a short briefing about the company. H.E. Ambassador then toured the flight simulator training complex and tried out one of the flight simulators.

Antonov has received an offer from the Kedah state government to provide aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services at the Kulim International Airport.

EVENTS 28TH INDEPENDENCE DAY OF UKRAINE CELEBRATIONS

On 24 August 2019, the official celebrations of the 28th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence were held in Kyiv. The members of the diplomatic corps in Ukraine were invited to attend the event along with Ukrainian dignitaries and officials. Mission was represented by the Chargé d'affaires, Ms. Azra Firzadh Asangany.

Later that afternoon, the hosted a ceremonial reception in Mariinskyi Palace, Kyiv.

ASEAN DAY 2019

ASEAN Embassies in Kyiv, Ukraine namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam gathered at the Vietnamese Embassy in Kyiv on the occasion of the 52nd ASEAN Day Celebration on 8 August 2019 hosted by the Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine H.E. Nguyen Anh Tuan.

Ambassadors and representatives from ASEAN Dialogue Partners’ missions were also present. Following the flag raising ceremony and playing of ASEAN anthem, speeches were delivered by the Vietnamese Ambassador and the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine.

PROPHET MUHAMMAD’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

On 9 November 2019, H.E. Ambassador Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah and wife, Datin Roslina Ismail attended the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday celebration held at Al-Rahmah mosque in Kyiv organised by the Administration of Muslims of Ukraine (DUMU).

More than 700 guests including members of the diplomatic corps, government officials and religious leaders from different faiths were present. At the event, performers mostly school children sang a number of religious songs praising Allah.

LAUNCHING OF THE 20TH EDITION OF UKRAINE’S ANNUAL DIPLOMATIC BOOK

On 27 November 2019, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, attended the launching of the 20th edition of Ukraine’s Annual Diplomatic Book and the 75th anniversary of the International Relations Institute, Taras Shevchenko National University Kyiv held at the university.

This year’s annual book has a wide range of articles and interviews on international and regional issues including current and emerging geopolitical trends contributed by several scholars and ambassadors including by the Malaysian Ambassador.

At the ceremony, speeches were delivered by Mr. Valery Kopiika, Director of the Institute, Mr. Pavlo Kryvonos, Director General of GDIP and Ambassadors from Belgium, Brazil, Malaysia, and .

PARADE OF NATIONS

The Embassy of Malaysia participated at the Third International “Parade of Nations” Charity Evening organised on 7 November 2019 by ‘Fashion of Diplomacy in Ukraine’ magazine, at the Fairmont Grand Hotel, Kyiv. The International Parade of Nations Charity Evening was launched in 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian diplomacy and the Day of Diplomat of Ukraine.

At the colourful event, the Embassy’s staff displayed Baju Kebaya Nyoya with traditional embroideries, modern kebaya pendek, Malaysian batik sarungs with intricate motives, Baju Melayu and kain sampin songket.

HELICOPTER SIMULATOR TRAINING

Three helicopter pilots from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department attended a training from 11-19 October 2019 at Avia Training & Simulators Centre in Kremanchuk, Poltava. The helicopter training complex is fully equipped with the most advanced flight simulators and classrooms with computer based training systems together with highly professional instructors. H.E. Raja Dato' Reza Raja Zaib Shah took the opportunity to host a dinner for the pilots at the ‘Rumah Malaysia’.

NEWS ON GEORGIA WORKING VISIT OF HRH RAJA MUDA PERLIS TO GEORGIA HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Raja Muda Perlis was on a working visit to Tbilisi, Georgia from 27-29 November 2019.

HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin in his capacity as the Chancellor of University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) led a delegation of 40 people comprising of members of the student representative council and officials from UniMAP for the university’s annual overseas educational tour programme.

HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Jumah Mosque in Tbilisi, Tbilisi Public Service Hall, Georgia’s one stop centre, JSC Delta International and Georgian Innovations and Technologies Agency.

On 28 November 2019, Raja Muda Perlis launched the Perlis Food Promotion held at the Tbilisi Marriott Hotel.

MALAYSIA PRODUCTIVITY CORPORATION (MPC) BENCHMARKING STUDY VISIT TO GEORGIA

Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Northern Region Office made a Benchmarking Study Visit on Digital Economy Transformation program to Tbilisi, Georgia from 26 October - 3 November 2019.

YB Dato’ Paduka Ammar Bin Dato’ Shaikh Mahmood Naim, Kedah State Secretary and YB Tuan Azman Bin Mohd Yusof, Perlis State Secretary were among members of the delegation.

The delegation among others visited Public Service Hall, Public Service Development Agency, Data Exchange Agency, State Procurement Agency, National Agency of Public Registry and Municipal Service Development Agency.

The Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Georgia, Mr. Jemal Inaishvili also took the opportunity to meet with the delegation.

CONSULAR INFORMATION REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE FOR MALAYSIANS

Non-Muslim Marriages Non-Muslim Malaysian citizens who contracted a marriage under the local Ukrainian laws are required to register their marriages at the Embassy within six (6) months from the date of the marriage or a late penalty will be imposed at the time of the registration.

Registration must be made in person at Consular Section of the Embassy between 9.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Requirements for the registration are as follows:  Marriage certificate (original and copy);  Malaysian passport and identity card of the applicant (original and copy);  International passport and local passport of the spouse (original and copy);  Two (2) copies of photo each passport size (white background);  Wedding invitation (if any); and  Wedding photo
