Summary of the project The companies introduced a truck-berth reservation system in which consignors/consignees and transport businesses are able to smoothly access by their smartphones and reserve and change the schedules of unloading. This reservation system contributes to helping drivers and warehouse workers complete their duties in a well-organized manner.

Effects − Reduction of trucks’ standby time contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and improving the productivity of drivers. − Organizing the procedures for unloading in advance improves the labor productivity of warehouse workers.

Summary of the project The companies achieved a project for making logistics networks vis ible in transportation of agricultural products by uniting efforts of retailing, wholesale and transportation businesses. In this effort, they promote a modal shift of transportation means and retailers (consignees) choose desirable means for themselves.

Effects − Shifting transportation means from trucks to railways reduces carbon dioxide emissions. − This system improves conventional business practices in the industry.

Summary of the project The companies engage in a project in which the co mp a nies in Japan and their overseas factories automatically share information on the number of products that have met criteria in the final inspection process by attaching electronic tags to the products at the overseas factories. In this system, the Japanese s ide receives the information and sends information on customers’ stores to their overseas factories. In response, the factories sort products by store. This system allows the Japanese s ide to choose in advance the optimal export channel to customers’ stores.

Effects − Transporting products to the ports closest to destination stores contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissio ns. − Batch-based reading of electronic tags of products arriving at do mes tic lo gis tic centers contributes to reducing burdens of workers engaging in product inspectio n.
