After the Eucharist on a portion of the consecrated bread and wine is taken downstairs to the Chapel of Christ the King and reserved to be used the next day on Good Friday. As the Sacrament remains on the through- out the night, it symbolizes for us Jesus’ time praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, and his invitation to his disciples to pray also with him.

Jesus invites us to do the same. From 8:45 pm until midnight the chapel will be open for prayer and meditation. If you would like to take part in this devotion and can give a half hour or more of your time, please sign up on the schedule posted in the back of the church.

People who participate in the watch can bring their own reading material or use the prayer suggestions that will be available in the chapel. And of course, there will always be someone watching with you.

As Jesus asked Peter, so he asks us, “Could you not stay awake with me one hour?”
