1968 FORD THUNDERBIRD Owner: Bob Agnew The 1968 Thunderbird saw the introduction of the new 385 series big-block 429 cu in (7.0 L) V8 engines. Like most Ford motors of the time, they were tuned down to 360 hp (268 kW) for insurance reasons. The Thunderbird motors also got special treatment with wedge style heads, making a significant power increase over their conventional headed brothers. These motors made the cars some of the quickest and fastest ever produced, despite their larger size and heavier body on frame construction. 1968 and 1969 model years saw minor trim changes respectively.

2001 PROWLER Owner: Lars Wells The Prowler was a unique model offered by Plymouth from 1997-2002 with less than 12,000 total units built. It is a unique example of a car making it into production largely intact from initial concept in 1990, to introduction as a in 1993, through to production in 1997. Rarely if ever has a vehicle this different from its large corporate brethren survived the process. The Prowler was meant as a large nod to the early era of car enthusiasts. It’s stablemate, the Viper was introduced five years earlier as an update to the pure American Muscle Cars of the 60’s, while the Prowler was all about the fun of the 1930’s Hot Rodders. The exposed front suspension and “bicycle” wheels, low slung roofline, wedge shape and much larger diameter rear tires all harken back to many customized 1930-33 Ford .

1973 FERRARI Owner: Mike Houx After Ferrari had built and raced a series of six- and eight-cylinder cars under the Dino banner (so named to commemorate Enzo’s fallen son), it was inevitable that a road-going car would be built under this name. In 1968 the gorgeous mid-engined, two-seat Dino 206 GT appeared. Like many of the period, the Dino’s beautiful body was designed by and produced by Scaglietti and in this case was aluminum for the entire run of 150 built in late 1968 and 1969. The transverse mounted 2-liter, 160-hp V-6 had an aluminum block as well, built by . Production of the 2-liter 206 GT ended in 1969 to make way for the 2.4-liter 246 GT. The 246 GT’s coachwork was almost identical to the earlier car, this time in steel, possibly as a result of Ferrari realizing that this car was going to be produced in numbers never before seen by the company. Cast iron replaced aluminum for the new car’s engine block and this motor now made 195 hp initially and 180 hp for cars sent to the United States.

1986 FERRARI 3.2 MONDIAL CABRIOLET Owner: Philippe Bonneau The Mondial Cabriolet has the distinction of being the world’s only factory produced four seat convertible that features a rear mounted V8 engine. The production of this model was limited to 810 units from 1986-1988.

1990 Owner: Jerry Roehl 478 horsepower at about 2400 pounds. With a 3-liter, 8-cylinder engine with twin turbos, this car goes 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top-end speed of 208 mph. Ferrari made 1315 F40’s and 202 for the U.S. market. These cars have become highly-collectible. A Ferrari dealer in Monterey, California made a deal to have the second F40 ever exported to the U.S. shipped to him in Monterey so that it could be auctioned the day before the Pebble Beach Concours D’ Elegance. The bidding ended with Jerry J. Moore of Houston, then the No.1 car collector in the world with 832 cars. Mr. Moore traded six new Ferrari Testarossas and paid $500,000 for this car on August 18, 1990. Known as the “Pebble Beach F40” due to the circumstances surrounding its purchase.

1997 Owner: Wallace Bow The F355 was made in three variants, a fixed-roof Berlinetta, a removable roof GTS and a convertible spider. 3,717 spiders were made throughout the 1995-1999 model run. Although many convertibles are called spiders, this car is a true spider with a soft top that folds onto the body which is then hidden by a leather cover. Factory specifications are 375 horsepower and 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.

2005 COUPE Owner: Jorge Wernly The F430 was introduced in 2005 as a replacement for the 360 Modena. As an evolutionary new model, all the major concepts of the predecessor were carried over and perfected: an all-aluminum construction, sophisticated wind-tunnel design, mid- mounted high-revving V-8 engine and F1 transmission. Even though a great manual six-speed transmission was available, most of the F430 were equipped with the F1 transmission. The biggest change appeared in the engine bay with an all-new 4.3 liter normally aspirated V8 that produces 490 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque. This engine, which produces 114 hp/liter of displacement, launches the F430 from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and on to a top speed of 196 mph.

2006 FERRARI F430 SPIDER Owner: Jerry Roehl This is a relatively rare car for this model since it has a manual 6-speed transmission. It is essentially a new car due to its low mileage of 682 miles.

1950 XK-120 JAGUAR ROADSTER Owner: Gary Singer An instant sales and racing success since its debut, the XK-120 Roadster has remained an automotive icon to this day, helping to both establish and continue the Jaguar Legend. Named after its ability to exceed 120mph, an unheard of feat at the time, it was the “The World’s Fastest Production Car!” 3.4 litre, six cylinder, dual overhead cam engine with an aluminum head sporting hemispherical combustion chambers - a true “Hemi;” -technology previously limited to race cars and rare, exotic automobiles. The XK-120 OTS (Open Two Seater) was intended as a limited production racing platform to showcase this new engine, originally intended for Jaguars’s first post-war high performance four door sedan, the Mark Vll. Jaguar was overwhelmed with 500 deposits at its debut in 1948 at the London Motor Car Show. The traditional, slow and painstaking method of producing automotive bodies for low volume cars using aluminum sheets, hand-formed over a wooden frame, quickly proved inadequate after the first 187 left hand drive bodies were “hammered out” and a switch was made to more modern production methods. The vehicle represents the 22nd “steel” car, as opposed to the all wood-framed “alloy” car. When last checked, it was the oldest road-going XK-120 Roadster of its type in the US.

1951 MG TD ROADSTER Owner: Angelo Gaziano MGTD’s were produced in England from 1949 to 1953 and established the sports car craze in the United States. Total production for the MGTD was 29,664 of which 7,451 were produced in 1951. The MGTD replaced the MGTC and had more futuristic styling, better turning and handling, a smoother ride, left hand drive and more creature comforts such as an optional heater and radio. My MGTD was assembled at the Abingdon Factory. Acquired in 2013, from a family member who had it for over 40 years, it has just received a two-year restoration. The engine is a 1250cc XPAG with very low mileage of about 35,000. The TD is completely assembled around a wood frame, making the restoration work even more difficult. Owner chose to have the car finished in a color called Autumn Red, a paint that was only available on the 1951 model. All restoration work was done by The Color Works, in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

1952 MG TD Owner: Wallace Bow This 1952 MG has been transformed from a “basket case” parts car to this fine example by a no-expense-spared 9 year restoration. While the mechanicals remain all original, this TD has received several period-correct upgrades including painted TF wire wheels and a beautiful English Walnut dashboard. Expressed in a modern shade of British Racing Green Metallic paint, this little car has plenty of style! Factory specifications: 50 horsepower, 0-60 in 22.7 seconds, top speed 87 mph.

48 HOT IMPORTS 1950 - 1965

1955 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER Owner: Steven Stacy Restored in 2002 Signal Red with black interior. Importer Max Hoffman was responsible for the most-iconic 356 body style, the Speedster, which was a rather stripped down and basic $2,995 version of the car with racing-style bucket seats, removable side curtains instead of roll-up windows and a low windshield that the weekend racers who favored the model could easily remove.

1957 JAGUAR D-TYPE Owner: Jerry Roehl While a replica of the famous car that on the three years in a row (1955-1957), this car has all authentic original Jaguar parts. A 3.8L engine produces 300 HP on a vehicle that only weights 1600 lbs. The original D-Types were the first to exceed 180 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans.

49 HOT IMPORTS 1950 - 1965

1959 MGA ROADSTER Owner: Denise Beswick The MGA is a sports car that was produced by MG from 1955 to 1962. The MGA’s bodywork was based largely on that of a one-off MG TD especially built by the MG factory at the request of racing privateer George Phillips for the 1951 - 24 Hours of Le Mans and was officially launched at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show. A total of 101,081 units were sold through the end of production in July 1962. A 1500 cc engine with two SU H4 carbs gave them up to 90 hp. This model is a 1959 acquired about 4 years ago in Santa Fe. When purchased, it was non- running and in pretty rough shape. With the exception of the paint and bodywork, Jonathan Beswick did all of the restoration work himself…rebuilding the 1622 engine, replacing the interior and the replacement of all the odd worn out parts. In the 2016 Santa Fe Concourso.

1962 ALFA ROMEO 2600 CONVERTIBLE Owner: Lauie & Robert Hixson This 1962 Alfa Romeo 2600 Convertible was purchased as one of a pair of 2600 Spiders in Albuquerque around 1990. The intention was to restore one of the cars and use the other as a parts car. The owners felt the parts car was in too nice of condition to salvage–this example is actually the parts car. The restoration of this car took a long time to complete; finding original parts proved challenging, as only 2255 cars of this model were manufactured in 1962. A 2.6-liter, 6-cylinder, dual overhead-camshaft, 165-bhp engine, with a high-performance Weber fuel system, producing 165 bhp, coupled to a 5-speed, manual transmission, powers this red with tan interior Alfa.

1969 JAGUAR ROADSTER Owner: Kevin McKown The owner states that he was just a kid back then and maybe not the best custodian for the car, nevertheless this car is a Diamond in the rough. When many of these Diamonds are polished and resold for $120,000 to $160,000 this Jaguar, might be well served with a polish. 1977 PORSCHE TURBO CARRERA Owner: JC Petersen This rare Turbo is a first generation Porsche 930, a.k.a. 911 Turbo, 3.0 Sunroof Coupe. 59 HOT IMPORTS 1966 - 2017

2002 NSX Owner: Ryan Newhall This high-performance Acura has 290 horsepower. It’s all-aluminum 3.2-liter (automatic versions get a 252-hp 3.0-liter) DOHC 24-valve VTEC V-6 is on the light side of the power ledger compared with its competition. The front wheels (forged aluminum alloy all-around) go from 7.0-by-16 inches to 7.0-by-17s, the rears from 8.5-by-17 to 9.0-by-17s.

2012 LFA Owner: Tom Bohlman Codename P280, a showcase of Lexus engineering lead by Haruhiko Tanahashi in 2000 to create a supercar to “move its driver and stir the five senses.” Its design principle was “form follows function,” though under Lexus Design manager Kengo Matsumoto, form would undoubtedly impress as well. Eleven years later the first production LFA destined for the United States arrived. The car was produced to demonstrate Lexus leadership in design and performance with a predetermined, one-year-only build as a 2012 model. Only 500 would be built and only 170 would be allocated to the United States. This stunning build is one of them; with a 552 horsepower 4.8 liter V10 producing a symphony of sound all the way to 9000 rpm. 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph puts the LFA alongside impressive company.

60 HOT IMPORTS 1966 - 2017

2012 ROLLS-ROYCE WRAITH Owner: JC Petersen The previous owner of this Rolls Royce Wraith was comedian Tyler Perry. The Wraith is derived from the Ghost, but it has its own distinct—some might say sporting— personality. With a 624-hp version of the Ghost’s V-12, the is shorter and the body is unique. The Wraith is quicker and more nimble than the Ghost, with a light touch to the steering and a gently controlled ride. Rolls tradition abounds, with rear-hinged power doors, the available Starlight headliner and an array of options that can launch the already-lofty base price into high orbit.

2016 PORSCHE GT3RS Owner: JC Petersen Continuing in the path of its predecessors, the 2016 911 GT3 RS has an astonishing 500 horsepower and 338 lb-ft of torque courtesy of a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat- six hanging off the back end. 7-speed PDK transmission. The body is shared with the 911 Turbo, which, combined with the new wheels and tires, gives the car wider front and rear tracks than the regular GT3.

61 HOT IMPORTS 1966 - 2017

2016 911R PORSCHE Owner: Steven Stacy Built on the outgoing 991.1 series instead of Porsche’s new- for 2017 991.2, the R is said to weigh just 3020 pounds and is armed with the 500-hp 4.0-liter flat-six from the GT3 RS. With 338 lb-ft of torque at a lofty 6250 rpm and power peaking at 8250 rpm, this is the leadfoot’s 911 with revs to burn. A six-speed manual gearbox with auto rev match that can be disengaged at the press of a button. Yes, a six-speed, not the seven-speed you normally find in a 911. This is great news. Paired with a single-mass flywheel that Porsche says further increases engine responsiveness.

2017 AUDI Owner: Robert Aranda Encased under glass and lit up like a museum piece, Audi’s ten-cylinder totem to human ingenuity looks as if it should be accompanied by a soft-spoken docent to narrate its very existence: At 610 horsepower, this naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 is the most powerful engine ever put into production by Audi. It revs 20 percent quicker than its predecessor, spinning from idle to its 8500-rpm redline in 0.66 second.

62 HOT IMPORTS 1966 - 2017

2017 ACURA NSX Owner: Ryan Newhall This is a prime example of filter-down technology. The layout of the three electric motors onboard—two on the front axle and a third between the twin-turbo V-6 and the nine- speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox—echoes that of the late, great Porsche 918 Spyder. Those benefits include rapid torque vectoring, continuous thrust assist to smooth over turbo lag and torque changes during upshifts, a modicum of fuel efficiency, and, if desired, silent operation for brief periods. The 3.5-liter dry-sump V-6 has racing heredity in its odd, 75-degree V angle and it fires up with an automatic rev zing now typical of high-strung machines.

1927 FORD PHAETON Owner: Jamie Johnson This rare Ford Phaeton has been on the national hot rod show circuit, debuting for the first time ever in Albuquerque for Concours du Soleil 2017! The raw material this “family- sized” hot rod was found locally and included the unmodified body and the original frame. The fenders were included too, but the owner planned for a highboy. He had other changes in mind as well, but they have all been done with what he calls “a balance of simplicity and something extra.” The top of the rear body edge has been contoured to match the rest of the body. Another is the custom windshield, built using chopped and laidback 1936 roadster posts and a narrowed 1936 frame, modified to fit the reshaped 1927 cowl. The Deuce hood top and sides have been re-proportioned as well. The more noticeable changes include the 1932 grille shell with a Dale’s Manufacturing insert, Guide 682 headlights and 1937 Ford taillights. The Model T Phaeton was finished just before its 2016 unveiling at the Grand National Roadster Show.

1929 FORD ROADSTER Owner: Jim Johnson The owner found this Ford Roadster in the ground at a dump in 1971 and after a thorough digging expedition, removed it with the body preserved in the dirt. Jim restored the Roadster over the course of 10 years complete with welding, bodywork, parts and paint. The entire car is original 1929 Ford steel and features an original cowl gas tank. Headlights are original Model A updated with a halogen bulb conversion. Under the hood is a 289ci Ford engine, assembled by Al Edwards.
