City of Sturgis • has announced a “Good Deeds” initiative to assist high-risk residents age 60+ and/or those with chronic medical conditions by providing grocery shopping and home delivery services. • How to use this service: o Call the Sturgis Library at 347-2624 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday - Thursday and 8:00 to 1:00 pm on Fridays. o City staff will help you place your order. Items may include groceries, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and other household necessities. Books and audio-video resources from the Library can also be included. o A volunteer or staff member will fill your order (if items are available) at a local store and will deliver the order free of charge to your residence. The participant will need to pay for the items with cash or check when the delivery is made. There is a $50.00 limit on grocery orders, however, participants can order as many times during the week as needed. • All deliveries will be finished by 5:00 on Fridays. Deliveries will not be made over the weekend. • Baby formula (if not available in-store) can be acquired by calling the number on the back of your formula can. • If you or a family member needs to have a prescription filled, County Drug will provide free delivery within the Sturgis City limits. If volunteers are not feeling well or have interacted with someone who is not feeling well, we kindly ask you to stay home and not enter our facility. We will be following safety protocols and social distancing for volunteering and distributions.

• Additional Info: o FSD is closing the on-site Food Pantries until it is safe to reopen. o The backpack program will discontinue until further notice. o Food Bank Program will continue to support its agency partners to assure food access in those communities. o Mobile Food Pantry Program will continue its regularly scheduled statewide distributions. Food will be pre-packed and distributed drive-thru style. o While we will not ask guests for a photo ID, staff and volunteers will be asking for, and tracking, first and last names, household size and will also ask for a verbal declaration of household income as government food commodities may be added to the distribution menu. o Guests are welcome to visit the mobile food distribution once, every other week. We hope these distributions supplement existing resources for families who need extra help during this time of uncertainty.
