  • Report on the RSG, Their Role and Potential
Report on the RSG, their role and potential Deliverable D.T1.1.2 WPT-1 Gianluca Lentini, Francesca Polettini Poliedra – Politecnico di Milano 1. The Regional Stakeholder Groups in a 4-H logic One of the WPT-1 main outputs is the definition of the Regional Stakeholder Groups (RSG), the role of which is to accompany the smart transition in the Test Areas. The definition of the RSG is necessary in order to assist the assessment of the level of smartness of each Test Area, give input for best practices and test the digital exchange platform (DEP), codesign the toolbox and facilitate the transfer of project results to the policy level. The selection of the stakeholders depends on the issue in which each Test Area is set to be working, thus the aims of each Test Areas need to be clearly defined. The RSG mapping works in a quadruple-helix (4H) logic, a conceptual framework that sees innovation at the intersection of the converging interests of: public entities/policy makers, academia/research institutions, business/firms/enterprises/economic actors, civil society/NGOs/citizen organizations. The mapping represents the starting point of the activities in the Test Areas, and aims at kickstarting the evaluation of the state of the art for Smart Transition, the first activity of the RSG. The number of stakeholders to be involved is critically linked to the dimensions and demographics of the Test Area. Ideally, all elements of the quadruple helix should be covered, but the societal, demographical and economical structure of the Test Area influence the distribution of RSG.

According to the current analytical framework the key challenges of supply are people’s dependence on car transportation, lack of village shops and other basic services, and e-services replacing location-based services. This paper examines the current dynamics of the supply of basic goods in the Idrijsko-Cerkljansko region of Slovenia. Using mixed methods approach, the paper covers a historical overview of service provision by a field survey and historical analysis, as well as an analysis of demand and supply, done via an on- line questionnaire. The aim of the paper is to combine the findings into a proposal for an optimized alternative supply network integrating good practices such as linking providers, promoting local products and reopening of village shops.

Print run: 300 copies -2- At the time of the centenary of its foundation, in addition to an exhibition, Historical Archive Ljubljana prepared an exhibition catalogue, a chronicle of the development of the archive with a list of employees and photographs of more important events, which received a very good response from associates and fellow archivists. It very quickly became out of stock, and for a number of years we planned to reprint it. During that time, changes occurred that needed to be taken into account, and by the time we had waited a little, a whole decade had passed. One hundred and eleven years of archive activity is again a suitable period to look back, to write a chronicle and to produce a report on our major and minor successes. And to report this to the wider public, not just our colleagues and associates; even those who perhaps know nothing about us, for whom an archive still means a cupboard with dusty files. So before us is an supplemented publication of the chronicle of Historical Archive Ljubljana, from 1898 to 2009.

In recent decades and especially since the closure of the mine in the mid-1990s, the town experienced a somewhat successful transition into other more environmentally friendly industries. The mine itself underwent a transition into a museum and, together with the wider region, became a »geopark« and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Key words: regional development, mercury, pollution, cultural heritage, UNESCO, Idrija, Slovenia Ključne riječi: regionalni razvoj, živa, zagađenje, kulturna baština, UNESCO, Idrija, Slovenija 1. Historical overview: Idrija AS the secoNd-largest mercuRy mine IN the World Mercury and its derivatives have been used since antiquity for ointments, in cosmetics and jewelry making, and as a pigment and an ingredient in pharmacopoeia. However, at that time only small quanti- ties of mercury were needed.1 In the mid-sixteenth century, a large-scale amalgamation process for refining silver was developed by the Spaniard Bartolomé de Medina (1527–1580).

EARTHQUAKE THREAT TO MUNICIPALITIES AND SETTLEMENTS IN SLOVENIA POTRESNA OGRO@ENOST OB^IN IN NASELIJ V SLOVENIJI Milan Oro`en Adami~ Drago Perko After earthquake in 1976 at Breginj (NW Slovenia, photography M.Oro`en Adami~) Po potresu leta 1976 v Breginju (SZ Slovenija, fotografija M.Oro`en Adami~) Geografski zbornik 36 Black Cyan Magenta Yellow 7 SYNCOMP Geografski zbornik, XXXVI (1996) Abstract UDC: 550.34(497.4) Earthquake Threat to Municipalities and Settlements in Slovenia Since January 1, 1995, Slovenia has had 147 municipalities and almost 6,000 settlements. Using the Geographical Information System, we combined a layer with seismic zones, a layer with municipal borders, and a layer with centroids (coordinates) of settlements. For every municipality and settle- ment in Slovenia we first determined a partial assessment of the earthquake threat to municipali- ties relative to surfaces and population, a partial assessment of the earthquake threat to settlements relative to population, relative to the threat to the active population, that is, to the number of work places, and relative to the age of housing. We then obtained an aggregate assessment of the earth- quake threat to settlements relative to population and the age of housing. Izvle~ek UDK: 550.34(497.4) Potresna ogro`enost ob~in in naselij v Sloveniji V Sloveniji imamo od 1. 1. 1995 147 ob~in in skoraj 6000 naselij. S pomo~jo geografskega informa- cijskega sistema smo povezali sloj s seizmi~nimi obmo~ji, sloj z mejami ob~in in sloj s centroidi (koor- dinatami) naselij ter za vsako ob~ino in naselje v Sloveniji najprej dolo~ili delno oceno potresne ogro- `enosti ob~in glede na povr{ine in {tevilo prebivalcev, delno oceno potresne ogro`enosti naselij gle- de na {tevilo prebivalcev, glede na ogro`enost aktivnega prebivalstva oziroma {tevilo delovnih mest in glede na starost stanovanj, nato pa {e skupno oceno potresne ogro`enosti naselij glede na {tevi- lo prebivalcev in starost stanovanj.
