On issuing new commemorative coins

On 18 December 2015, the Bank of Russia issues 11 new coins made of precious and base metals.

A silver proof coin in denomination of 1 ruble bears a relief image of a large emblem of the EMERCOM of Russia, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in December 2015. The mintage of this commemorative coin is 5,000 pieces.

Another silver proof coin in denomination of 3 rubles is dedicated to the International Children’s Centre Artek. The reverse side of the coin depicts a relief image of a panoramic view of Artek against the background of Ayu-Dag and a logotype of the International Children’s Centre Artek performed in colour. The mintage of the coin is 1,000 pieces.

The following 5-ruble base metal coins are dedicated to the feat of the Soviet warriors, who fought on the Crimean peninsula during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945: ‘Defence of Sevastopol’, ‘Defence of the Adzhimushkay Quarry’,"Kerch-Eltigen Landing Operation’, ‘Crimean Strategic Offensive Operation’, ‘Partisans and Members of Underground Organisations of the ’. The mintage of the coins is 2 million pieces of each design. The reverse sides of the coins show monuments and memorials of the Crimea dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, as well as the diorama ‘Assault of Mount Sapun on the 7th of May, 1944’.

Under the series 'Towns of Martial Glory' the Bank of Russia issues four coins in denomination of 10 rubles: ‘Taganrog’, ‘Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky’, ‘Maloyaroslavets’, ‘Mozhaysk’. The mintage of the coins is 10 million pieces of each design. The reverse sides of the coins show the relief images of the towns’ emblems. The series comprises 37 coins already in circulation with the latest one issued on 24 November 2015.
