Jet= Sells for ,1.3M to China Horse Club TUESDAY, 14 JUNE, 2016 GOLD-FUN SETTLING IN FOR >JUBILEE= >JET= SELLS FOR ,1.3M TO Gold-Fun (Ire) (Le Vie Dei Colori {GB}), Hong Kong=s hope for CHINA HORSE CLUB Saturday=s G1 Diamond Jubilee S., is reported to have taken the travel over to England without hassle and has settled in nicely at Abingdon Place Stables in a box not far from fellow Diamond Jubilee aspirant Mongolian Saturday (Any Given Saturday). AIt=s all good, all lights are green,@ commented English ex-pat trainer Richard Gibson. AThe horse has settled in well, he=s eaten up well and his bodyweight is good. It=s been straightforward so far and we=re happy with the way he is.@ After being kept to an easy trot Sunday following his mid-day arrival Saturday, the flashy chestnut cantered Monday morning beneath his regular partner Eric Gandon. The latter, who has been with Gibson dating back to the days of Doctor Dino (Fr) (Mutathir {GB}) a decade ago, observed that Gold-Fun moved better over the synthetic Ecotrack installed at Bury Hill not far from Abingdon Place than he does over the Sha Tin all-weather. Her new owners are members of the China Horse Club and their representative Michael Wallace, who had flown in from New York for the sale, said of their acquisition, "She's a Classic winner and there are very few of them around. She's a very sound, game and athletic filly. Fillies of that quality are very sought after. Down the line it's a wonderful breeding opportunity, but there are also plenty of upsides to her as a racehorse in the immediate future.@ "It's great to be part of Ascot, for sure,@ Wallace continued. A[China Horse Club principal] Teo Ah Khing arrives tomorrow and some of our members are also here this week. But looking ahead she's sure to have some nice entries this year and she's part of a nice portfolio of horses that we have now in Europe." The story of Jet Setting is one of the great fairytales that keeps all participants in the game hoping that they can chance on such a good-luck story. AIt's been such a wonderful experience for myself and for John Kilbride, Bought initially at Goffs as a foal for i7,000 by Julie Wood, our bloodstock agent. She has to have a serious chance on who has been fortunate to race such good horses as Zebedee Friday. She loves her job. She came back from the Irish Guineas, (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Olympic Glory (Ire) (Choisir {Ire}), had a roll and ate all her food. I was anxious about losing her--a Jet Setting was a rare one who "got away" when being sold as a filly like this to be racing at this level is exciting for anyone, but non-winner from Richard Hannon's stable last October to young I'm lucky enough to be training her. JANUARY MIXED SALE Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - 12:00 Noon Fairplex - Pomona, CA © Mesaros Calif. Incentive Program_Cat 18_Page 1 CALIFORNIA’S INCENTIVE PROGRAM IT PAYS TO BREED AND OWN A CALIFORNIA-BRED In 2017, the breeders and owners of California-bred Thoroughbreds and the owners of California-based stallions received over $12M in premiums through the California Incentive Program. In addition, special racing opportunities afforded California-breds in 2017, provided more than $20M in purses for races restricted to California-breds. As a result of legislation recently amended in 2009, total monies available for incentive awards are distributed as follows: 10% to the California-bred race fund; 15% to the Maiden Bonus program: 20% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion that finishes first in an open qualifying race, and a 10% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse that finishes first in an open qualifying race that was not conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion. The tracks are adding an additional 10% for Cal-bred winners of allowance races making the bonus 30%. A qualifying race is all non-claiming races excluding stakes with a purse of at least $15,000, as are open non maiden claiming races with a claiming price of $40,000 or greater in Southern California and $20,000 or greater in Northern California. After these deductions, 75% of the remainder to be paid as breeder awards, and 25% of the fund to be paid as stallion awards.

Hydroclimate Changes to Arid regions subjected to Impact of climate change, human activities, and Large-scale climate patterns by Shereif Hassan Mahmoud A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Water Resources Engineering Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering University of Alberta © Shereif Hassan Mahmoud, 2020 Abstract In recent years, many regions worldwide have suffered from natural hazards related to the impact of human activities and climate change, such as floods and droughts, sea level rise, extreme weather events and an accelerated hydrological cycle. In Africa, the driest continent on Earth, climate change has led to more frequent occurrences of droughts of greater severity. Beside climate change, human activities have also incurred negative environmental impact which in turn has likely affected the climate at a wide range of temporal-spatial scales worldwide. For example, in the Middle East, floods of greater magnitude have been occurring more frequently in recent decades, which could be attributed partly to rapid urbanization or the effect of climate change, or both. In the Nile River basin (NRB), recurring droughts and increasing population have led to rising tension between competing users for water. Therefore, to develop more effective mitigation strategies against the potential impact of climate change, there is an urgent need to better understand changes to the hydrologic cycle of arid regions and linkage to regional climate change. The objectives of this dissertation are: 1) To investigate the potential implications of urbanization and climate change to the flood risk of Egypt and Saudi Arabia of arid climate in the Middle East.
