Induction of E6AP by Microrna-302C Dysregulation Inhibits
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Induction of E6AP by microRNA- 302c dysregulation inhibits TGF-β- dependent fbrogenesis in hepatic stellate cells Ji Young Kim1,7, Kyu Min Kim1,7, Ji Hye Yang1,2, Sam Seok Cho1, Seung Jung Kim1, Su Jung Park1, Sang-Gun Ahn3, Gum Hwa Lee1, Jin Won Yang4, Sung Chul Lim 5, Keon Wook Kang6 & Sung Hwan Ki1* Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are essential for liver fbrosis. E6 associated protein (E6AP) is one of the E3-ubiquitin-protein ligase and has been studied in proliferation and cellular stress. Currently, no information is available on the role of E6AP on transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling and hepatic fbrogenesis. This study examined whether E6AP is overexpressed in activated HSCs, and if so, its efect on hepatic fbrogenesis and the molecular mechanism. E6AP was expressed higher in HSCs than hepatocytes, and was up-regulated in activated HSCs, HSCs from the livers of carbon tetrachloride-injected mice, or TGF-β-treated LX-2 cells. The TGF-β-mediated E6AP up-regulation was not due to altered mRNA level nor protein stability. Thus, we performed microRNA (miRNA, miR) analysis and found that miR-302c was dysregulated in TGF-β-treated LX-2 cells or activated primary HSCs. We revealed that miR-302c was a modulator of E6AP. E6AP overexpression inhibited TGF-β- induced expression of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in LX-2 cells, albeit it was independent of Smad pathway. Additionally, E6AP inhibited TGF-β-mediated phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases. To conclude, E6AP overexpression due to decreased miR-302c in HSCs attenuated hepatic fbrogenesis through inhibition of the TGF-β-induced mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway, implying that E6AP and other molecules may contribute to protection against liver fbrosis. -

The Effect of Life Satisfaction on the Silver Generation's Spa Recognition
Original Article J Cosmet Med 2020;4(1):17-22 https://doi.org/10.25056/JCM.2020.4.1.17 pISSN 2508-8831, eISSN 2586-0585 The effect of life satisfaction on the silver generation’s spa recognition and preferences Ga Hui Park, PhD1 , Eun-Ju Kang, PhD2 , Seung-Hee Seo, PhD2 1Department of Beauty Science, Gwangju University, Gwangju, Rep. of Korea, 2Department of Cosmetology, Dongshin University, Naju, Rep. of Korea Background: Although the spa industry is becoming increasingly popular as it is integrated and combined with the aesthetic, cosmetic, medical, food, apparel, and amusement park industries, research and development on spas for the silver generation is still lacking. Objective: The present study aimed to analyze satisfaction with life (SwL), spa perception, and spa program preferences of the silver generation with the objective of using the findings to develop spa programs that are actually needed by the growing elderly population, and provide basic data for the revitalization of the spa market. Methods: The study population consisted of people aged 60 years and older—also known as the silver generation—who were visitors at tourist sites in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (South Korea). Results: The results showed that the silver generation’s self-esteem was highly correlated with their spa perception, while those with high SwL reported a high number of responses for “body massage/body treatment.” Regarding the appropriate cost of a single program, “Korean Won (KRW) 30,000–49,999” was the most common response among respondents with high SwL and “less than KRW 30,000” was the most common response among respondents with low SwL. -
