If you walk or run now, whether in Chesterfield County or other places, where do you walk or run for recreation or transportation purposes? 7 BIKEWAYS AND TRAILS PLAN

185 I am a distance runner, and I run anywhere within a 10-mile radius of my home. I've run on nearly every road capable of being run on, excluding highways like 288 where foot traffic is not allowed.I most prefer unpaved trails (ESPECIALLY in the winter - a dirt trail doesn't get icy like a sidewalk!!!), then paved trails, then sidewalks. If there is no sidewalk, a big shoulder does the trick, but most roads don't even have that.Parks are alright, but they're very restricting. We need more safe ways to get from point A to point B on foot.I have walked from Brandermill to Kroger across Hull street before, and also from Brandermill to Target across Hull Street.I've also walked from AAMCO at Courthouse and Hull back to Brandermill in rush hour traffic with no sidewalk. I'm very lucky to be alive. 186 I currently walk in the neighborhood. There are no sidewalks to get to other areas. 187 I do not walk or run for either purpose. 188 I don't run or walk in Chesterfield. 189 I generally ride bikes. I almost never walk to a destination. 190 I generally run in downtown Richmond on the sidewalks, or around my apartment complex because there are not many cars. I have run at Midlothian Mines before and that was nice. 191 I had been running in colonial Williamsburg -- very safe 192 I run all over my neighborhood. The roads seem much better suited to safe running than biking. 193 I run at parks, the gym, or on residential streets. I do not run/walk for transportation purposes. 194 I run from my Downtown Ymca to Browns Island. I run on the treadmill. 195 I run from my home in Hanover County on smaller county roads. 196 I run government center trails, Pocahontas trails and roads. 197 I run half marathons and it is extremely difficult to find routes with enough decent sidewalks so that I'm not on the road breathing exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke from passing vehicles. Many motorists don't give me enough space on the side of the road when I do have to run on the roadways. I've had several close calls where I've felt vehicles go by me so close that I haven't felt safe. I run from the Grove subdivision to Tomahawk MS, loop around there and run back to Midlothian Trnpke and loop around Midlothian HS and back. 198 I run in Five Forks or use the YMCA trail. 199 I run in my neighborhood 200 I run in my neighborhood because there aren't any bike/running paths near us. I live off of Newbys Bridge Road. 201 I run in my neighborhood, at Huguenot park, and Pocahontas state park 202 I run in neighborhoods or places with sidewalks 203 I run in the neighborhoods surrounding my home, Henricus Historical Park, and Pocahontas State Park, with the majority being in the neighborhoods of

Chester.

204 I run in the Settler's Landing neighborhood for fitness. 205 I run inside of my neighborhood or at the Manchester YMCA. 206 I run near my home or in local parks. 207 I run on a treadmill in my home, but would love to run outdoors (near my home) if the trails/roads were safer. 208 I run on my neighborhood, Cogbill and Five Forks Lane. I tried running on Belmont and Cogbill (outside of neighborhood) and was ran off the road several times by cars. Once again the idea of not having a shoulder of atleast a foot to run in is not appealing. 209 i run on paths and roads around county complex.I ride on the trails at Henricus park. It is about 1 hour from my house so I don;t ride frequently.I really like riding on the High Bridge trail in Farmville but the distance makes it trip I don't make frequentlyI can ride the trails at Deep Run park but the entire route is too short, conveluted and congested. 210 I run the government center trails, Pocahontas trails and the roads. 211 I run the Huguenot trails at lunch and in the evenings I run with my dog at Rockwood Park. 212 I run through the Midlo-Mines Park 213 I typically run in my neighbor as there are few trails that provide enough distance to make it worthwhile. 214 I use existing trails in the county for running, Brandermill trails are a great example, I have a12 mile running route that never leaves Brandermill. Also use Pocahontas state park and the river trail system. 215 I usually go to Maymont because the roads are OK and there is enough space to run without being in danger of getting hit by a car. I also run in the streets but usually only on streets with extended paved areas out from the roads as the most of the sidewalks are so uneven it's dangerous to run on them. 216 I usually run in my neighborhood as it is unsafe to run on county roads. 217 I usually run in my neighborhood or on the paths around the County Government complex. 218 i walk / run on trails in the parks and on trails in brandermill and other developments (woodlake, highlands, etc). 219 I Walk and Hike all over the place, for example:Pocahontas, High Bridge Trail, Lake Anna, and other Virginia State Parks.Chester Village Green sidewalks and Chester Linear Park. The Appalachian Trail and other long trails in the USA.James River Park System in Richmond.Local Civil War Battlefield Parks.Etc. etc. etc., 220 I walk around my small neighborhood for exercise. 221 I walk at least two to three miles every weekday, mostly on the VCU MCV campus as needed and to get back and forth from my assigned parking lot.

222 I walk at the state parksI walk in my subdivisionI walk at the Government TrailI walk for recreation 223 I walk during lunch around the Chesterfield County Complex and in my neighborhood.During lunch I also walk to the Utilities Department, Treasurer's Office, Chesterfield Federal Credit Union, etc. to take care of personal business. 224 I walk for recreation mostly in Henrico 225 I walk in my neighborhood for receration. 226 I walk in my neighborhood on sidewalks and along Riverside Drive and other areas near Byrd Park and Westover Hills Park. 227 I walk in public parks, local strip malls, and the library 228 I walk in the neighborhood, and at Rockwood Park. If I'm not home, I walk in Richmond at Belle Isle, downtown, in the fan, and in Carytown. 229 I walk my dogs in my subdivision, but cars travel much above the posted speed limit, making me not feel safe. 230 I walk on the C'field complex trail, sometimes Rockwood or Pocahontas (less so because of having to pay to park) 231 I walk only in the subdivision and for recreation and fitness, not transportation. It would be nice, however, to live in the County where you could walk or ride to shop, dine, ets. 232 I walk to the Midlothian YMCA, the Midlothian library, the post office at Sycamore Square, and Walgreens. I also take leasure walks around my neighborhood and the Coal Mine park. 233 I walk up to Bensley School and back for exercise. We enjoy walking and biking on Brown's (?) island, near Tredegar and the paths near River Towers on the southern side of the river. Our kids love to cross the river via the large rocks. 234 I will run through the neighborhoods and on Robious Road in the dedicated bike lane but do feel like I am taking my life in my hands! 235 I work in Richmond and walk the Fan area and along the James River Park System 236 I'll occasionally walk in my neighborhood but most all of my exercise comes from cycling. 237 I'm fortunate to live in a neighborhood with walking/jogging paths. 238 Immediate neighborhood & city of Richmond 239 In and around Sycamore Square, Walton Park, Queensgate, Charter Colony and Salisbury. 240 in Bexley 241 in Chester on sidewalk along Rt. 10; parks

242 In Chesterfield County: Pretty much just in our neighborhood (Brighton Green) -- would love to walk to nerby shopping, public facilities (Bon Air library, post office) and commercial areas (shops, restaurants along Midlothian and in Bon Air).Chesterfield Co definitely needs more green space, public land and parks -- especially more preserved wooded areas with nature trails (cheaper than ballparks, etc). Existing parks are very crowded and there are very few in the northern part of the County. City of Richmond has many more parks and bike/ped amenties, and we are grateful we live close to them.Forest Hill Park, Larus Park, James River Park System 243 In friend's and my neighborhood, local parks, and mall. 244 In Magnolia Green and Parks 245 In my neighborhood 246 In my neighborhood 247 In my neighborhood 248 In my neighborhood 249 In my neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods.
