July 22nd, 2021 IN HOUSE NEWS We are very excited to announce that we are hosting a special “Yellow Painted Lady” Butterfly Release on Friday, July 30th at 1:00PM on the patio outside the Country Kitchen and in the Service Lane. This is for all our residents at Gilmore Gardens! “Butterflies of all species have long been a symbol of celebrating new beginnings, transition, and renewed optimism. Each butterfly is packaged in an individual release box for their safety and well-being and gives each person who releases a butterfly their own special moment as they set it free. The Butterfly is nature's way of reminding us that there is always hope. When the caterpillar is no more, the butterfly is born in ultimate freedom and beauty”. What happens with butterflies upon their release? They simply resume their natural lifecycle. They leave, seeking host plants to feed upon and lay their eggs many kilometers from where they were released. Releasing butterflies is an excellent way of replenishing the declining population.

REMINDERS Come for Movie Night: Goodfellas (1990) on Saturday, July 24th at 7:00PM in the Activity Room. Starring Robert de Niro , Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, the movie follows the life of young Henry Hill, with his friends Jimmy and Tommy, as he begins the climb from being a petty criminal to a gangster on the mean streets of New York.

DRUMFIT is a fun and invigorating class! We have 3 classes each week; Monday and Wednesday mornings at 11:00AM, and Wednesday afternoon at 1:30PM. Come and drum and have some fun!
Come for the Go4Life Walking Club led by our community volunteer, Cathie on Monday, July 26th at 11:00AM. Take a walk around the local streets and enjoy looking at some of the charming local gardens. Please meet in the Fireside Lounge.
Who remembers the game of darts? We have a modified version with magnetic darts which we will use at our Olympic Darts event on Monday, July 26th at 2:00PM in the Activity Room. This is a game for all to enjoy so invite your neighbour and come for some fun – as well as the anticipation of winning a medal!
Test your word skills at our Olympic Giant Crosswords on Tuesday, July 27th at 2:00PM in the Activity Room. Guess as many of the crossword clues as you can and see if you win an Olympic Medal – there are 3 to be won!!
Keep your thumbs and fingers ready and moving for our Special Happy Hour on the Patio with Olympic Coin Toss on Wednesday, July 28th at 2:30PM. This game is easy and fun to play so come and have a go! At the end of the game, 3 players will win a medal based on how many points they have accumulated! Come and see if you win a medal!
With restrictions being lifted and having had our second vaccination, we are excited for the return of our Birthday Party & Welcome Tea on Thursday, July 29th at 2:00PM in the Fireside Lounge. Come and celebrate our residents who have a birthday in July and welcome our new residents whilst enjoying cake and refreshments with fellow residents!
